01:26all at all and has been cool and calm all week is a very sharp puncher De Rosa and he's got
01:34confidence in that speed and that sharpness and he's punching and what he'll find with with Barry
01:39what he'll have you know seen in in video is Barry's going to look to just put that pressure
01:45on and just walk him down and he won't have to go looking for him so he'll feel as though the
01:49sharpness of his punches he'll be able to find him that will give him the confidence he was
01:54slightly overweight on the scales Francesca De Rosa and John Pegg turned to me and said body
02:00shots from Barry that's what's going to do the damage tonight and and after witnessing oh he just
02:06got caught with a left up there yeah nice shot after witnessing spar plenty of rounds I know
02:12Barry likes to go down to the body so that'll suit him both having some success early here

02:32and I'm coming for you but Barry's cool and calm and a smooth fighter he's very smooth he's very
02:41very smooth and you know what he reminds me of an 80s fighter from from Jamaica called shrimpy
02:47Clark all right Richard Clark he's very very similar style he's um he was challenged for
02:52a fight at world title he's very similar to him how he puts his shots together
02:59right hand from Barry in the jam as well just settling down
03:05in these early rounds Barry's got to be careful not to allow De Rosa to land too many of these
03:15sharp shots because while you know first three four rounds it's gonna be super sharp and it's
03:22Barry's fight to put that pressure on him and take those sharpness away from him from the body shots
03:28and take his legs away and then he can get to work later don't want me to either take him the shot
03:32yeah absolutely how did you score that fight baby um I'll give it uh De Rosa yeah and I I
03:38totally agree with you you know yep the Italian had the slightly brighter start there
03:46good combinations and there's a real confidence guys like that you want to you want to put that
03:53pressure on initial from round one but not take the shots on the top take the shots on the way in
03:58that way you you get him to throw work but miss and then counter downstairs to tire him out slow
04:04his legs down but you know what it was like um the great Michael Cullen was saying to me like
04:09when we get with fighters now is like we load up yes 100% and like the key to everything is the jab
04:15and like I'd like to see more double jabs this is from from Barry more double jab and then load up
04:19and come back with the right hand the key is the jab well said Spencer Fearon absolutely
04:25in boxing the most potent weapon into the second round the wonderful pink trunks of Francesca De
04:32Rosa our visitor from Salerno in Italy doesn't speak English but he's uh he's had a good team
04:40around him all week and he's a real character and the best thing is he's unbeaten and he's
04:46coming to take this title Niall Barry in the black trunks from a family of fighters and he could be
04:54the very best people speak really there you go there are the body shots for the first time
04:59whipping them home the first shot Barry threw in the in this round was a jab to the chest
05:04the first shot and then you see him back it up with a couple of shots underneath
05:09the mentees have gone back to the corner and John Love told him don't be head-hunting make sure you
05:14throw in their body shots make sure you start keeping guessing there this is better good right
05:18hand we know Niall Barry's had excellent sparring we don't know quite about Francesca De Rosa
05:24he's been hot in Italy but you know how good is the gym work out there and Niall Barry looking
05:32sharper here in the second round that jab that we was talking about he's using a lot more this round
05:40he is he's putting good variations with his punches as well good left hook to the
05:44body from De Rosa no he blocked it you know seriously Niall Barry blocked that shot
05:50looking for the jab as well De Rosa just slightly uncomfortable
06:00in the middle of the ring Barry just with a more relaxed
06:09performance so far I think he's just a bit jerky De Rosa
06:14weaning the hooks are not really landing
06:20this is good applied pressure from Barry you know very good applied pressure I like the way
06:27I was switching from head to body and I like how he's looking for the shots now it's a it's an
06:32adjustment from the first round isn't it massive adjustment you know he must have really got a
06:36little right at um um taught him by John Pegg well he looks more comfortable doesn't he yeah he does
06:45and De Rosa turning southpaw and
06:49it's marked up on the nose just not as much now from the Italian
06:59not quite sure why he's switched dances he doesn't look a natural southpaw at all
07:03it doesn't and it's at this time now Barry should be further right and I said that he threw it
07:09and a good shot and again I don't know what De Rosa's done here switching it around when he's
07:15an orthodox fighter and Barry read that beautifully it's a much much better round
07:20for the man from Chelmsley Wood this is beautiful boxing here
07:26and I like the investment downstairs to the point very very good round for Barry because
07:31I the first the first round he did he reminded me of Shrimpy Clark
07:35like in in this second round now they will remember Simon Brown the yeah yeah yeah there's
07:41a lot of Simon Brown yeah yeah there's a lot of Simon Brown in him
07:49really good round that was for Barry
07:53look at that look how he vested downstairs to the point that was it's just it's just the
07:57the shift of mentality there instead of instead of just loading up upstairs all the time to shift
08:01and be able to blend it go upstairs come back downstairs go downstairs go upstairs I was also
08:05concerned about the way Francesca De Rosa just sort of almost fell apart in that second round
08:11he was switching it up he he looked lost in there after a good first yeah and that was and
08:16that was more because of the post priority that Barry was running and he tricked him with shots
08:20and hit him downstairs he came upstairs and what you have to take into account as well De Rosa's
08:25got a good record for his box domestic length and the quality over there isn't that great do you
08:30know what I mean that's a bit shaky so so if he's if he's been having it all his own way out there
08:35then all of a sudden he's under the cosh he may not be used to that Nile Barry a very very good
08:41young fighter in his 11th outing Francesca De Rosa in fight number nine that looping right
08:50hand that De Rosa keeps throwing Barry's gonna time and if he fires the left hook underneath
08:54it'll it'll end him he's thrown it a couple of times and Barry's caught it or he's that
08:59time he tried countering upstairs if he counters downstairs it'll catch him underneath and cripple
09:03him he's very wide with this looping right hook De Rosa
09:13it's just beautiful move there excellent move again but the shot selection if for me if it
09:18had gone underneath he'd be catching the gap was underneath got yourself in position nice
09:25it's also clever calculated pressure too
09:29from Barry and these body shots Dave I think he's just listening to you because he busted
09:33properly downstairs he'll cripple his kid to the body he'll fall apart yeah he's just pouring with
09:40the jab now De Rosa levels are starting to come into this yeah Barry looking very relaxed and
09:50Barry's used to see but Barry's spar's lightweight you know I've seen his spar lightweight he's a
09:56big strong kid yeah and he's starting to really chew up Francesca De Rosa in it there's not a
10:02lot coming from the Italian he's looking a bit crude in there they're big efforts they are
10:11they'll swing they're like kind of like I need to keep you off me yeah great defense from Barry
10:15yeah it's very very good tucked up well good punch variation there you know I like how he
10:20looks the head to body oh that's nice

10:36clever with the guard Barry great with the feet and throws a huge amount of punches around and
10:44doesn't waste much see the difference in sharpness from first round to this round

10:55body shot again and that body shot hurt him yeah it did
11:00half half sagged in it 25 left in the third and he switches southpaw again and look for Barry to
11:06land another right hand body shots in his own corner and an uppercut and De Rosa in a bit of
11:15trouble here end of the third round he's firing back on instinct fair play to him yep big left hooks
11:27but Barry is all over him now
11:33he's warming up he's just warming up Barry he's warming up I'm telling you I've seen his firing
11:37he's just warming up he's great to watch isn't he oh he really is listen to me I think that we've
11:44got the British version of Simon Brown um with this guy now Barry I'm very impressed if he kicks
11:52his head and he can take a shot as well trust me we're looking at a new champion today and I know
11:58it's early days but you can see these applied pressure is taking his toes and look look if you
12:04look in the corner right now look where his arms are right now like he's feeling it you know
12:08I mean um the rest um the rest is he's feeling on body shots
12:22second down round four slow up off his stool Francesca De Rosa in his ninth fight and it's
12:29his toughest we saw Niall Barry here beat Hector Garcia Dolores before that he had a
12:37a couple of good wins against Hector Javier Lozano and Darwin Martinez but this is for
12:42about the IBF European super bantamweight title and could this be the first of many for Niall
12:50Barry so far so good lovely crunching left hook as De Rosa switches stances and
12:59tries to get some sort of foothold in it but he's just keeps coming at you Niall Barry
13:06he's just a little bit too open defensively De Rosa
13:14I'd like to see Niall Barry double up on his left hook because he's catching with it if he was to
13:19double up on that left hook it would have a telling effect I guarantee it good defense from him yeah
13:26good defense and that's going to expend energy the the big hooks of De Rosa and the body shots
13:32coming back of Barry this is really good work worms keep going downstairs there
13:40non-stop he calls himself beautiful and you said he's warming up this is exactly what he does
13:54I bet Spencer Oliver's impressed watching this former super bantamweight himself
13:59in that era with Michael Brody and Patrick Mullings good times for the British super

14:19that hurt De Rosa did almost swung him around keep going downstairs there you go one back from De
14:27Rosa who's brave and courageous and he doesn't know how to lose and he's firing back this is
14:36good from the Italian it's a bit is but look at his face this is hard work for him yeah it is yeah
14:43this is like round nine of a spar oh that was balanced that was balanced that was
14:49oh he's been bouncing it caught him it caught him it toppled him over so I understand why
14:53it's counted but it was it was balanced well knockdown counted in the fourth against Niall
15:00Barry's not hurt of course now he's just going to get more vicious he'll just rev it up more yeah
15:07yeah he won't like that one little bit
15:11really just a balance thing yeah but De Rosa is still firing good shot
15:18now and now Niall Barry's just got a little whoa big punches going in from De Rosa
15:28what a finish what a round of boxing here both guys hurt I'm telling you that was like you know
15:35what it was yeah that was that was oh my word the knockdown was a slip it was a balance thing
15:43when he switched off and the guy was swinging De Rosa started swinging and he just walked
15:47into two three shots boom you can't switch off like that that's inexperienced and then he came
15:52back it was brilliant yeah that's what we want to see it is now that seriously what was this fight
16:00is the is the Christian fight for um um Izzy and Dazon because this that round was excellent
16:17yeah he was hurt a little bit there at the end Niall Barry yeah
16:21a dramatic super bantamweight fight here is the co-main event remember we still got Danny
16:31Quartermain ahead this is Niall Barry's chance to shine but Francesca De Rosa is uh still a
16:38live wire in there that's going to give De Rosa the confidence he was just you know we were just
16:42talking about how hard he's having to fight to stay in there that's going to give him that extra
16:46energy the belief the knockdown and then he rattled him and hurt him more
17:01keep going downstairs
17:05drop away take that energy away from him
17:09De Rosa hurling in the hooks he's trained very very hard for this
17:14and as Spencer said earlier yeah winning guys traveling very confident I'm telling you
17:22I just thought he was sort of falling apart a bit he was but
17:25that knockdown has given him some different breed of confidence
17:36I can change that jab up a little bit as well on his way in
17:38good work from Barry the combinations
17:54a big effort again from De Rosa but a gulp of air to right hand from Barry
18:00did he sense that a little bit but then De Rosa comes back it's a little shift of angles that
18:05when he when he throws at the same time that's catching Barry he's right Barry's
18:08he's up Barry's right eye's rolling up yep it is a little damage to Barry's eye
18:15Barry's got to keep going downstairs good lifting
18:23goes again Barry but De Rosa still elects to stand right in front of him
18:30all right big shot from Barry going in but then you think De Rosa might just fire a counter
18:49just reaching a little bit too for you punching from too far out
18:51he's got to bring his feet in a little bit more before he throws them shots
18:56busy De Rosa and Barry out of range there see the difference De Rosa's not
19:03not every shot's hard then he'll whip something in
19:10as with Barry every shot's the same again halfway through this 10 rounder and it's
19:18a very interesting one hands down from De Rosa

19:37how are we scoring this guys well I gave the first two uh De Rosa he's got a 10-8
19:45and I think that last round I give Barry so I've got it what
19:53first round De Rosa yeah second round third round Barry yeah the knockdown
19:59yeah exactly so it's two rounds to three so it's level on your card with the 10-8
20:06all to fight for second half of this Barry seemed in real control about 10 minutes ago and
20:13now De Rosa still he did but it was it was from the knockdown there's a shift of confidence
20:20and like and then he wanted to go back to loading up he needs to go back to his boxing he's got he's
20:24he's very well timed he needs to go back to his boxing but putting them hurtful shots with the
20:29boxing second half IBF European super bantamweight title on the line the black trunks of Niall Barry
20:36from the West Midlands in fight number 11 he's undefeated so
20:40two is Francesca De Rosa in the black and pink from Italy
20:55felt Barry was in the ascendancy boxing really smooth but another clumping right hand this time
21:01from De Rosa he's got some power hasn't he he's got very good power he whips the hooks in really well
21:12five knockouts on his record
21:15against preliminary opposition but you just don't know with these European fighters
21:24how good they are until they get a real test
21:27Barry's the test for De Rosa

21:41I feel Barry wasted a lot of his attack there going up top
21:47right hand from Barry was good just when you think De Rosa's tiring
21:51and hands go down he comes back with something
21:53he's got him on back top like that he should be banging the body
22:04and that eye looks a little nastier as well the right eye of Niall Barry
22:16good fight excellent excellent fight again there's no jab there from Barry on the way in
22:24that's a good shot on the knee
22:27a body shot and a hook right in front of us at ringside the two of them intense in there under
22:34the lights De Rosa trying to find a gap for one of those big hooks and
22:46it's even Stevens this it is but you see like what they say for Barry now
22:52it's the neglection of the jab he should go back to his jab
22:56then close the gap then let off those hard shots
23:04he's got beautiful head movement as he's rolling he should be countering
23:09he's got beautiful head movement but what he does a lot of times is when he's throwing his
23:12power shots he's throwing his head with it so his head's right there to get caught with those
23:15shots on way out
23:20a bit ungainly from De Rosa these sporadic attacks
23:25gone from the nose wonder if the pace will affect him down the stretch

24:06Romanian another one in at short notice and we've seen what these short notice opponents have done
24:11tonight they've been absolutely fabulous value for money two titles on the line for Danny
24:19Quartermain and he'll get a huge reception very very popular in these parts so two mile Barry
24:28four to go in this one and you've got De Rosa up haven't you yeah I've got him around up
24:35I feel that Barry's got to get back to that jab and he's got to pop the jab
24:39distract him with a jab get his range with a jab make sure he's in range then he can fire
24:44his power shots but everything's stiff everything is it's a bit of a theme from tonight where
24:50fighters are throwing the punches with the same power same speed on everything so you can see it
24:53and you can read it and not only that but once you start getting hit with those kind of shots
24:58right you adjust to someone's power yeah and like what would hurt you in the first and third round
25:04ain't gonna hurt you in the full fourth fifth
25:10hands down of De Rosa the one thing that I'll say from from when you watch now sparring
25:18that his position his feet is quite slow so with a with a mover then it allows him to pitch
25:26pinch breather so De Rosa works looks like he's getting tired and goes for a little movement
25:31and by the time uh Barry's caught him up and squared him off he's got a couple of
25:37wrestling that keeps him going do you get me yeah because he's breaking the rhythm yeah
25:41like he's stealing he's stealing a break yeah while he's doing it as well
25:45swung and missed a lot though De Rosa
25:52not a great deal landing here where are the body attacks from Niall Berry gone there's a left hook
25:57attempted by De Rosa
26:02swing over the top not much clean though Spencer no it's not but they're landing
26:12and the heavy even though even though Barry's catching him because they're
26:15heavy you get you feel them on a second row
26:21again he's abandoned that body attack

29:30given a chance and De Rosa is going to finish him off here he hasn't thrown a punch back he's
29:36got Niall Barry he's got to hold him he's got to hold him and Niall Barry hasn't thrown a punch

30:00De Rosa is the new IBF European Super Bantamweight Champion it's a massive win for the Italians who
30:08are celebrating here and they will be on the Amalfi Coast because Francesca De Rosa has stopped
30:15Niall Barry in dramatic fashion in a really good fight here in Coventry and how about that
30:24it is De Rosa who keeps his unbeaten record it didn't look like it would at times but what a
30:31battle and it went one way than the other we thought his right hand might be broken and maybe
30:37it is but he's won the fight he's won the fight it came out swinging it went it went for it there's
30:42there's there are different types of fighters there are fight everybody's got a different pain
30:46threshold there are those fighters that break down they'll go back and sit on the stool and say
30:51man's gone i can't fight and there are those that will still go to hell with it and that's
30:55yeah he was about to be stopped yeah he wasn't throwing anything back there and that's it and
31:02the ropes didn't hold didn't do anything he just he just stood there and just so the ropes held
31:08him up so he gets the count yeah but he wasn't throwing anything back now so he could have been
31:12stopped it could have been but it's a title fight so the rest give him every opportunity to try and
31:16get through it and right and rightly so but you know he he was he was he was gone it wasn't yeah
31:22it wasn't it wasn't pretty to see i think he was absolutely gone the army threw a punch back
31:30completely yeah you know and that's because the wrong tactics yeah right he could have won this
31:36fight i'm gonna be real he was throwing the jab on the way it becomes and this is what i'm saying
31:41about the same same power on shots every single time yep and you know and even even a band of
31:47your body type which is very good at is a great body you know because you've been in the gym
31:51on numerous times but when you see things like this adam right um if you don't change up your
31:59game plan if you don't change up with your your your your punch variety he didn't change it
32:05just been given some oxygen nile berry being tended to by the paramedics uh it was
32:12pretty dramatic it was yeah i mean that was a good fight you know i'd like to see that fight
32:17again you know but it was it was so closely poised and then suddenly de rosa almost like he threw
32:24everything at him because maybe he knew the hand had gone and yeah i did i did have de rosa up
32:29yeah before stoppage i did have him up before stoppage i thought you know he didn't do the
32:34better work and was out working with sharper it'd be fascinating to learn about that right
32:39now now berry still getting uh attention by the medics in his own corner so hopefully it's just
32:47precautionary it was a tough tough battle it was a really good fight you know i i hope that it is
32:55it seems like it is anyway um but you know this is the thing where for like any young fighter do not
33:01neglect the basics the basics is this they call we'll tell you the first thing we're taught when
33:07we go into an amateur gym is to jab yeah how to shake how to stand how to throw your jab that was
33:13so important as soon as he neglected throwing the jab things start to get current because he wasn't
33:20gauging his power everything was a hard power shot everyone's a hard power shot right when he
33:24could have mixed them up and what we saw with de la rosa he was mixing up hard and soft hard and
33:29soft then he go hard then he'll flick out little tabby tabby shots and then he'll flow hard again it
33:34was you know third place to the young man you know and francisco deserved to win that fight
33:40no 100 you're right there
33:44but you know i still believe that now berry can come back you know because he's got he's got
33:48he's got some mad skills man but i did say to you before the fight nile ain't gonna go out there and
33:54i know and that's what i'm saying to you and that's it i was saying i wanted to box i wanted
33:59to but when you see what somebody does in the gym all the time you know that that's what they're
34:03going to do i know but but in in certain fights you can't afford you need to be able to change
34:07your own you know what they say that you do most is that you do best yeah we think it was his right
34:13thumb that was in trouble de rosa meanwhile nile berry in tears in the corner with john peg he's
34:20absolutely devastated and it's a really difficult one to take but he'll come back from that losing
34:29for the first time in his pro career 10 and one now nile berry well he went in with an unbeaten
34:36fighter i'll tell you we'd see it again wouldn't we spencer one million percent adam one million
34:42percent because it was such an entertaining fight and it was it was like it was nice to see like
34:48we're getting a foreign opponent unbeaten record but he came over here and he wanted it that's that
34:53is a very very pleasant thing to see and he's gone over to see nile berry now
35:02yeah the devastation of defeat and the tears from nile berry
35:08it's such a hard business listen this is part of the business that that can either destroy you
35:16or build you into greatness and this is where nile berry needs all the support in the coming days
35:21to get rallied around him yeah he's a good fighter a really good fighter and fighters lose
35:27yep listen this is part and parcel of of of any sport but more so for boxing but you know it's
35:35like when he goes back to the changing room now he could have 150 000 people around him he's going
35:39to feel like the loneliest man on the planet but now he's gonna he's gonna have to get the support
35:43of his team uh you know in jong peg and the rest of them and they got a group around him and and
35:49he's he i believe that he can rebuild because he's got talent ladies and gentlemen please
