00:00Two opposition leaders said Perikatan Nasional's election director, Azmin Ali, is partly to blame
00:07for the coalition's loss in the Makota by-election. A Bersatu leader, who spoke on condition of
00:13anonymity, claimed Azmin failed to properly manage or coordinate PN's election machinery,
00:18especially with election workers outside of Johor, and as a result, these election workers
00:23did not show up. According to the source, another misstep was Azmin's reliance on his own loyalists
00:29instead of involving other component leaders in the campaign. Meanwhile, a PN Supreme Council
00:35member, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, echoed concerns about Azmin's leadership,
00:41saying he mainly worked with his inner circle, which hindered broader cooperation. The council
00:46member also noted the absence of PAS on the ground and a lack of enthusiasm from the campaign team.
00:51Both sources suggested that with better leadership, PN's performance might have been
00:55different. On election day, PN's candidate Haizan Jafar was decisively defeated, receiving only
01:017,347 votes compared to BN's Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah, who garnered 27,995 votes.
