00:00Some senators have called for the use of the funds to help those in need.
00:06The Philippine Health Insurance Fund still has P7,000.
00:10This is Daniel Manalastas, Serton, for the news.
00:15For Senate President Francis Escudero,
00:17the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation
00:21will be able to fulfill the mandatory contribution
00:23that their members are paying
00:25due to the large amount of unutilized funds or non-expenses in the past year.
00:30However, PhilHealth still lacks more than P500 billion
00:35which is a lot of money that can be absorbed
00:37for the payment of the monthly premium.
00:40So for Mr. Escudero, it's better to use that money
00:43to help our countrymen by adding medical services
00:48or lowering the amount of money they need to pay.
00:51Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Health discussed
00:53the transfer of PhilHealth's large amount of funds.
00:56They said that they made a decision on September 27
00:59to remove the rule on single period of confinement.
01:03This will take effect October 1, 2024, Mr. Chairperson.
01:08And the policy will be published on October 7, 2024.
01:15And this will have a retroactive effect effective October 1, 2024.
01:22The policy based on the office of the Senate Committee on Health Chairperson Bong Go
01:27was first implemented in 2013
01:29and it prohibits patients from receiving multiple claims
01:32for hospital admissions.
01:34According to Go, it affects the poor who rely on PhilHealth's help.
01:39You will be able to increase your services and medicines.
01:43You will see that the pharmacy is there, the dental is there,
01:47just the support.
01:49According to PhilHealth, there are also case rates
01:52for emergency treatment.
01:54That's why they promised...
01:55We said December of 2024,
01:58we will release the policy on the emergency care.
02:02So we are already developing this, Mr. Chairperson.
02:04We're already there.
02:06Three months from now,
02:07we'll come up with this policy on emergency care.
02:11This emergency outpatient will be removed.
02:16I mean, will it be covered?
02:18So when they go to the hospital,
02:21they don't need to be admitted for 24 hours
02:27to be covered by PhilHealth
02:29for what they will pay in the hospital?
02:33Is this right?
02:34Yes, Mr. Chairperson. We commit to that.
02:36Go is expediting PhilHealth
02:38with the number of emergency outpatient cases
02:41that are not being covered at the moment.
02:43Daniel Manalastas for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
