00:00Last question, over the summer you had six free Taylor Swift tickets, Keir Starmer yesterday
00:05said he was going to pay back the ones he got from the Football Association, yours were
00:09from the Football Association as well, are you planning to refund the value of that freebie
00:15if you like?
00:16I'm really proud, I don't resolve from London being the cultural capital of the world and
00:20the sporting capital of the world. You know London was a city Taylor Swift played more
00:24concerts in than any city in the world. It's really important for us to understand that
00:30one of the roles I have is to bang the drum for our city, whether it's American football,
00:35whether it's baseball, whether it's basketball, whether it's Taylor Swift, whether it's other
00:40concerts that take place in our city, whether it's fashion week and so like the previous
00:45two Mayors I'm going to carry on banging the drum for our city and that means also going
00:49to events where I can mix and mingle with decision makers who will decide whether future
00:54events come to London and I'm going to carry on banging the drum for our great city.
00:58Do you think Keir shouldn't then pay back that money that he's actually overreacted
01:02and it's like a fair deal that he's a politician like you, he's representing the public, he's
01:07making contact and that getting a couple of free tickets is absolutely fine, no need to
01:11have a fuss about it?
01:12Well I think what I welcome is over declaring rather than under declaring as the previous
01:18lot did. I welcome the fact that Keir Starmer wants to raise the bar, I'd have new rules
01:22in relation to what ministers can and can't do. The reason why the public gets angry is
01:27because they're concerned, legitimate concern, that you know giving these free tickets leads
01:34to undue influence. That can't be right. I think what Keir Starmer is trying to do is
01:38to show the transparency and show that actually there is no undue influence which I think
01:41is really important.
01:42So you declared duels didn't you, that you're going to just take it as an acceptable gift?
01:47As soon as I became mayor I made sure that I over declare rather than under declare.
01:53Previous mayors were criticised for not declaring certain things. I'll carry on declaring whatever
01:57I receive but also I'll carry on banging the drum for our great city. I'll be criticised
02:02for not trying to get more business to our city whether it's cultural events, whether
02:06it's sporting events, whether it's other events that make our city, in my view, the great
02:10city in the world.
