As we head closer and closer towards the festive season for this year, theatres in Birmingham are gearing up for their annual pantomimes and Christmas productions. Here's what to expect in Birmingham's top theatres over the upcoming Christmas period.

00:00At the Birmingham Hippodrome, audiences will be treated to the much-anticipated return
00:09of Peter Pan, running from the 21st of December to the 2nd of February. The production promises
00:16a star-studded cast, led by Birmingham's own Alison Hammond as the Magical Mermaid, alongside
00:22comic favourite Matt Slack, who returns for his 11th season as Smee. Expect stunning sets,
00:28special effects and plenty of familiar faces from Neverland, making it a treat for the

00:37Over at The Rep, two festive productions are set to light up the stage. First, there's
00:42The Snowflake, based on Benji Divey's beloved story. Running from the 5th of December to
00:48the 12th of January, it tells the tale of a snowflake, a young girl and her grandfather,
00:53all searching for their own place in the world. It's a perfect choice for younger audiences
00:59and those seeking a gentler Christmas story. In contrast, The House of The Rep will be
01:05hosting a darker, more thrilling festive offering, A Christmas Carol, A Ghost Story, from the
01:1014th of November to the 5th of January. This spine-chilling retelling of Dickens' classic
01:15tale, adapted by Mark Gatiss, promises to captivate audiences with its supernatural
01:21special effects and a cast including Matthew Cottle as Scrooge and Rufus Hound as Jacob Marley.
01:30Finally, at the Royal Southern Coalfield Town Hall, Robin Hood, the merriest panto in the
01:35land, will bring traditional panto fun from the 7th to the 31st of December. Packed with
01:41songs, slapstick and a dangerous archery competition, this family-friendly production promises plenty
01:47of laughs. The show will feature local stars including Anna Cumble and Jairus Bartlett,
01:53ensuring it's one of the highlights of the holiday season.
