00:00And it was made official yesterday so we can officially talk about the guy named Carl now
00:08living in the Big Apple.
00:10Carl Anthony Towns traded from Minnesota to the New York Knicks.
00:14In return, Julius Randle, Dante DiVincenzo, Cianova Knicks, Keita Bates-Thiop, and a first
00:20round pick back to the T-Wolves, a three-team trade that also included the Charlotte Hornets.
00:25But of course, JY, we start with your Knickerbockers.
00:29How much does this change the outlook for New York entering this upcoming season in
00:34your estimation?
00:35You know, when you think about it, Ben, and you look at the Knicks team, you bring in
00:42Carl Anthony Towns, number one, I want to say this, I think he's the best stretch five
00:49in the NBA, although he played as a four next to Rudy Gobert.
00:54His ability to shoot the ball from three, Ben, and to run both the pick-and-roll and
00:59the pick-and-pop effectively spaces the floor.
01:03Number two, you notice the three-point corner shot has become pivotal in the NBA.
01:09Cat and OG Ananobi happen to be two of the better four-size fives that shoot it there.
01:15So how does that benefit the Knicks?
01:18Driving lanes for Jalen Brunson.
01:20That gives them an alley to get to the basket.
01:22Now, I remember Jalen Brunson, I do believe, was the only guard in the NBA top ten in scoring
01:27inside the paint, although he's six-foot-two on a good day.
01:32Now, it also allows, with Cat at the center, OG to slide to the four, Bridges slide to
01:38the three.
01:39I was concerned, Ben, because I thought that I don't know if Bridges is really a true two
01:44and OG a true three, so everybody kind of lines them up into their best position.
01:51Lastly, Hart benefits because he goes into the starting lineup.
01:54But I also think there's two kids to look at that I think the Knicks are high on.
01:58One is Deuce McBride.
02:00That made D'Amincenzo more replaceable, even though they did not want to put Dante in the
02:06deal.
02:07And also, don't sleep on Tyler Kolick.
02:08I was impressed with him in Summer League.
02:10He's a lefty.
02:11He's a righty guard the same way, Ben, because you have a starting lefty guard, a guard coming
02:16off the bench, and Kolick even campaigns a lefty.
02:19So everything flows naturally, authentically for New York.
