00:00Hey besties, you wasted absolutely no time matching my freak, so I want you to
00:05know that I'm here for you. I spent my entire day recording this video for you,
00:09and then I spent two hours editing it, and then the whole thing crashed, so I'm
00:12a little bit frazzled, but here I am to give you my rainbow tampon tutorial. Just
00:17kidding, I would never start with that book. Here she is. So beautiful. Could you
00:22hear her calling to you? Come little children, I'll take thee away. Hello Salem, my
00:32name's Winifred. What's y'all? Okay, enough of that. Get yourself a glass bowl for glue
00:37and paint water, a handful of cotton balls, some school glue, PVA glue, could be
00:43Elmer's, could be tacky glue, some tinfoil, some masking tape, scissors, and a few
00:47paintbrushes. Now dump that cotton out of that bowl and pour some glue into it. I
00:51have to split this tutorial into three parts. I'm sorry about that, but I'm
00:55taking my time with it so that future tutorials can be shorter and you'll
00:58already know what you're doing. You need about this much glue and about this
01:02much water. Like I said, you can use any kind of white school glue, PVA glue. It's a
01:07little too thick here, so we're gonna keep stirring as much as we can, and then
01:10we're gonna add just a little bit more water. Only this much. Bloop. Bloop. Two
01:18bloops. Only two bloops. Keep stirring until you get the consistency of about
01:221% milk. It's okay to have a little bit of glue strings at the bottom, and you
01:26want the ratio of one part glue to two parts water. Let's have a moment of
01:30silence for all of our friends who can't handle cotton, but anyways, trigger
01:34warning, we're about to touch cotton. To those of you who recommended beauty
01:37supply stores for the ropes of cotton, yes, I'm aware of this because I was
01:43getting lots of perms as a kid in the 80s, unfortunately, but the problem is in
01:47the past we cannot prepare for a future hyperfixation, and I did not have that on
01:52hand when I fell into this rabbit hole, no, but the best thing about making these
01:56cotton sculptures is that the moment that you learn about them, you've
01:59probably already got cotton balls and Elmer's glue in your house, so that's
02:04what I'm doing. Here we go. You want two pieces of tinfoil, two rectangles that
02:08are the same size. You're gonna fold them in half twice, both the same exact way,
02:13and then basically you're just gonna keep folding them down more and more and
02:16more until you have two tiny little rectangles that are gonna act as the two
02:21book covers for our book. Now, I told you I had your back. If you don't have tinfoil
02:26and masking tape, I'm gonna show you how to do this just with cotton, but first
02:29you're gonna make these two little cuties. Look at them. Oh my god, so cute.
02:34Sisters, sing. Oh, I'm so sorry, so sorry. Let's just trim these up. Pow! This would
02:43be a great time to like, favorite, and share my post, and also follow me, please.
02:47I really did spend all day on this, and that'll let me know that you want more. So
02:51you're gonna take some masking tape and wrap it around your little book covers,
02:57and then do it again the other way, all the way across, and let's use some book
03:03magic to make this faster. Ready? There we go. Much better. Now we have our two
03:10front and back book covers. I told you I had your back if you don't have tinfoil
03:14and masking tape, so lay out some cotton for yourself. Make a rectangle. I'm just
03:18measuring it up here with the one I already made, but fold it in half so that
03:21it's doubled up, and tear the edges off, and then you're just gonna take a bigger
03:25brush, load it up with glue water, and saturate the whole thing front and back.
03:31You want it very saturated, and then you're gonna curl the edges under. Make
03:36sure it's all nice and tucked in. Set it aside to dry. Make one more, and then
03:41you'll have a front and back book cover with no masking tape. Boom! Back to the
03:46masking tape version. This is the fun part. Take a few pieces of masking tape
03:50and set those aside for later, and it looks like two little graham crackers
03:53and marshmallows, like little marshmallows, and we'll make some
03:55s'mores. Man! Yeah! Wrong movie. Again, first you take the graham. Then, again,
04:03wrong movie. I'm so sorry. Spread these out so that they cover your book cover
04:08all the way, and then you're making like a little cotton ball sandwich, or you
04:12know, you really could stop here and make s'mores. What can I do to stop you? I
04:15can't stop you. Take that masking tape, and you're gonna wrap it around the
04:19outside edges, and you are basically making the spine of your book. So do that
04:25all the way along one edge, and then you're gonna do it one more time to
04:29reinforce it, and then once you have it all the way covered, you'll have like a
04:33little s'mores book. It's the best thing. Actually, the best thing about a
04:38s'mores book is that you can always read some more. I am so sorry. Okay, so now
04:44you're going to take one of the unrolled cotton balls and line the outside edges
04:48of the book, and then tear off this extra piece right here, and then just tuck it
04:53in so it's nice and snuggly and soft, just like this. I highly encourage you to
04:58take this time to leave feedback on my post so I know, do you want tutorials to
05:03be this in-depth? Do you want them shorter? What should I make next? Give me
05:08all of the things. I figure if I make this one longer and more in-depth, the
05:12future ones can be easier. Okay, this square edge brush is the best for
05:16tucking these edges in and painting down the outside of, these are your pages,
05:22you're making the pages of your book, so paint them down nice and smooth with the
05:26watered-down glue. If you have a pen on hand, it'll be your best friend, as one
05:31edge can be used to score the pages and the other to flatten them down. Now
05:35you're going to start painting the cotton in thin layers on the outside of
05:39your book covers. The thinner the layers, the smoother the cotton will be, although
05:44you don't need it to be that smooth because it's an old, janky book and, you
05:48know, some witch has cut up somebody's skin and who knows what it's made of.
05:52Anyways, tuck in the rest of the edges and pat them down till they're all nice
05:59and even. Flat and even. You want them flat and even. And then you can do the
06:05inside edges of the book like this. Two layers at least on the outside, then we
06:11move on to the spine. I don't know where my cousin Vinny came from. Anyways, this
06:15is where you should stop and let it dry after you have a layer over the spine,
06:19but if you're a raging craft gremlin like me, you can move right on to part
06:23two. So send this to your bestie who loves Hocus Pocus and I'll see you in
06:27the other video where we'll add all the details on the front.
