Pedro has shown he still has a wand of a left foot after the former Chelsea and Barcelona forward curled home a sensational goal in Lazio's Europa League thrashing of Nice.

The World Cup winner made his name with the Spanish giants as part of an all-conquering team that scooped up three Champions League trophies and five La Ligas.

Pedro then made the switch from Catalonia to West London in 2015 and proved a hit at Stamford Bridge, scoring 43 goals in 206 matches and playing a part in Premier League and Europa League-winning sides.

In 2020, the magician headed to Italy where he initially donned the red of Roma before completing a controversial move to their bitter rivals Lazio three years ago.

And he is still firing in finishes from range as he scored a signature strike from a tricky angle to give Lazio the lead against the French outfit this evening.

Pedro, now sporting an ominous number nine on his shirt, takes an out-swinging corner in the 20th minute which is met strongly by the head of one of his teammates.

The ball is cleared off the line by a defender who seems to know little about it before it is bundled away as Lazio players appeal to the referee, suggesting a goal should have been given.

But Pedro then takes matters into his own hands as he wheels around from the corner flag, the ball falling nicely into his path as he enters the right-hand side of the area.

With the rain hammering down, the Spanish star meets it gloriously with his left foot, rocketing it into the roof of the net before any of the defenders can react.

He then wheels off in celebration flanked by his jubilant teammates before being mobbed by the Lazio bench.

The 37-year-old even had time to gesture toward the home fans, who looked on in amazement at what Pedro had just done.

The wonder strike proved the start of a fantastic evening for Lazio who swept Nice aside with consummate ease on Thursday evening, winning 4-1 in Rome.

Taty Castellanos added to the Italian team's lead as Pedro turned provider, playing through his colleague before the striker deftly lifted the ball into the net.

Nice then gave the home side a scare in the 41st minute with a goal against the run of play through Jeremie Boga, who produced a handy finish on his return to Italy having previously played for Atalanta and Sassuolo.

But Castellanos struck once again to restore a two-goal lead before Mattia Zaccagni dispatched a penalty to put the match beyond the visitors.

The result leaves Lazio first in the Europa League group on six points from two matches having beaten Dynamo Kiev 3-0 away from home.
