00:00Hey it's Adrian and if you're looking for the best all-around protection for your Z Fold 6,

00:04you're going to want to check out this metallic case from Poetic Cases. Now you still get

00:08wireless charging, it has a drop test certification, there's a built-in S Pen holder, hinge protection,

00:14a screen protector, and a built-in kickstand. However, there is one minor issue that prevents

00:18this case from being the perfect case, so let's take a closer look at if that's going to be a

00:22deal breaker for you or not, and a big thanks to Poetic Cases for sending this out for review.

00:27In the box we have the Poetic metallic case for the Z Fold 6, along with a manual that also

00:33includes additional adhesive strips if you need to replace the originals. Let's take a quick look at

00:38the case before I install it. So here's the front cover and the rear cover, so it has the Spartan

00:43writing and then the MIL-STD drop test certification. Now in terms of the hinge protector,

00:50you can see that snaps back pretty quickly, so it feels nice to eat friction, and then we have

00:56one adhesive strip here and no other adhesive strips along the inside of the case, and then on

01:03the back area of the hinge protector is where you would put in the S Pen. Now in the very rear there's

01:07a large cutout for the lens and the flash unit, and we also have, you know, a couple grippable or,

01:13you know, kind of grippy elements on here, and there is a built-in kickstand, so to get access

01:18to that you'll just put your finger, pop that out, and then to push it back down or to retract,

01:24you're just going to grab it from the bottom, press down until you hear it click. Now in terms

01:28of the front case, so this has a built-in screen protector, which you can see right here, with a

01:35protective peel, and there is another adhesive strip that goes all the way down the side, but

01:41nothing on the other corners of the case. Installing the case is really easy, so first we're going to

01:47peel out the protector for the inside screen protector here, and then we're just going to

01:54snap the front cover just like so, and probably it would have been better if I started from the bottom,

02:02but I seem to have gotten it on, and just kind of press it into place, and then for the rear case

02:08I'll just retract the hinge cover, go ahead insert it in, press down, and the case is now applied.

02:17That was very quick and easy. You may have noticed that I didn't remove the protective peel covering,

02:21and it's only because I review a bunch of different cases for this phone, so I didn't want to make it

02:25a permanent install, but here's what the phone looks like in the case, and it looks really sharp,

02:29and it feels really good in the hand as well. Now with the Z Fold 6, it comes in at 241 grams,

02:35and with the case added, it bumps it up to 328 grams, so you're adding about 87 grams

02:42in total with the case, so it's very manageable, it doesn't feel that much heavier,

02:46and yeah, the hand feel on here and the grip ability makes it much more manageable. I'm a fan

02:52of, you know, the wider grip versus the really narrow feel of the Z Fold 6. The cutouts at the

02:57top are nicely done, so nothing is obstructed there. Looking at the bottom, again, same story,

03:02nothing is obstructed, and then on the side we have the volume button, and then kind of a huge

03:08cutout here for unlocking or fingerprint unlocking, so let's go ahead and test that out. So I'll just

03:13turn the screen off, and there we go, pretty easy to unlock consistently as long as you come in

03:20a little bit at an angle, so once you get used to that, it should be pretty easy. Now taking a look

03:24at the rear, so we have the huge cutout for the camera lens, and then we have that kickstand,

03:31so to use this, you're just going to put your fingernail kind of in here, pop it out, and you

03:36can see it has this little area here for your fingernail to go under when you put it up. So

03:41in terms of vertically, let's see how that works, so yeah, that actually stays up vertically, and you

03:47can also have this horizontally as well, and then if you open the phone up all the way, I'm assuming

03:52it's going to kind of rock over, yeah, so this has to be propped up this way, so yeah, this works

03:59pretty reliable, and you know, that stays pretty stable. Now when you're done with this, this is

04:06kind of tight, I've noticed, so you could press down, actually that went down pretty easily, let

04:10me go ahead and open it back up, so open it back up, now the instructions do say to, you know, kind of

04:16grab it from the bottom here, and slide it down, and then you can hear that clicks into place, so

04:21let me try it again, but I think if I just press up here, I can get it, actually no, so it's better,

04:27slide it down, click it into place, and you know it's out of the way. By the way, you've probably

04:32noticed from the weight that this is actually not a metallic case, it looks metallic, it's kind of

04:36styled that way, but it is a hard plastic type of build, which is why it comes in so lightweight.

04:42This is what the phone looks like when it's closed, so it's a pretty flush type of close, and that's

04:47because when you open it up and you take a look, there's not really any of those type of nodules or

04:52nibs to, you know, kind of keep it propped open a little bit, so it closes nice and flush all the

04:58way through. In terms of the hand feel and grip ability, so it feels really good in the hand, it's

05:03wide enough. Now even though this has a matte type of finish, it's not, you know, like super textured,

05:09it's definitely a matte texture, but there's not a lot of grip on the front, I would say. Most of it

05:14is coming from the back here because it's not perfectly smooth or flush, you do have like

05:20indentations here with the different textures going on. So yeah, when you're holding it from behind

05:25and then you have this kind of slightly rubberized area on the side, you know, this feels nice and

05:30grippable, and of course once you have the S Pen, it kind of widens the grip, but you do have the

05:34option, if you're never going to use the S Pen on this phone, just remove the entire S Pen housing

05:40of it, and then you could have it a little bit more recessed. Now I do know with some cases, once

05:45you remove the S Pen housing, it actually accommodates like the Pro Edition of the Pen,

05:51not the Slim Edition. I don't know if that's the case here, it may be, but I don't have that Pen

05:56to confirm it. But yeah, overall in terms of hand feel and grippability, you know, it feels pretty

06:01secure in the hand, you know, easy to manipulate around. And here's what the case looks like with

06:06the S Pen inserted into the S Pen holder slot, so a front view and then rear view. Now one thing

06:13that I noticed is it's very cumbersome to take the S Pen out, so if you see here, there's a little bit

06:19of this housing lip here. So if I try to grab the S Pen, it's kind of not coming out, but you

06:26could see if you take a look at the side here, there's two arrows showing that you can actually

06:30use your fingernails and pop it out that way. However, when you do that, it pops out the entire

06:36S Pen housing. So if you take a closer look at this, this is the entire housing that holds the

06:41S Pen. So from here, I can go ahead and grab the S Pen out like this, and then go ahead and use it.

06:46But, you know, just grabbing it just from here, it doesn't really work that flawlessly because,

06:52you know, I would again have to put in the housing here, pop the S Pen in like so, and then when I'm

07:00ready to take the S Pen out, you can see I'm really trying to get at it, but I can't really,

07:05I have to kind of pull the entire housing out with the S Pen in tow and then separate the S Pen from

07:12the housing. So not the most elegant solution if you're going to be using the S Pen very often. So

07:17something to be mindful of. Opening and closing the phone is really easy. So you can see where

07:22you're going to put your fingers to open and close it. We have this kind of textured area or ridged

07:27area here. So open, close, very smooth and effortless. And I have to say that even though

07:33I haven't, you know, removed the adhesive protector peels, neither the front or rear case is shifting

07:39out of place. It feels very planted in here. Now taking a top view of what happens when you're

07:44opening the case. So you can see that hinge protector just easily glides over the front

07:50case bezel there. In terms of protection, so looking at the camera housing or the protection

07:57for it, the camera lenses are nicely recessed in there so that anytime you place the phone,

08:02you know, kind of on its back, you're not going to have to worry about the lenses being scratched.

08:07And then looking at the front, same type of deal, but the bezels are even larger or thicker on the

08:12front. So take a look at that, you know, that really raises up. So you're not going to have

08:16any issue if you ever have to place the phone face down. So yeah, in terms of protection,

08:21it should be pretty good. This should handle drops no problem since it does have that drop

08:26testing certification as well. In terms of case wobble, so when the phone is fully closed,

08:32very minimal wobble, all very well controlled. And of course, when you do open the case up,

08:37this is what it looks like. So there's going to be significant wobble, of course, due to the hinge

08:41protector. And just to look at the kickstand one more time. So you just put your finger under here,

08:46pop that up and you could see, you know, it stays pretty well locked in place. You could put the

08:51phone down this way, this way, or this way, which makes it really handy, you know, if you're eating,

08:56studying or whatever, you could have something playing in the background. And of course,

09:00you can unfold the phone and have it propped up where it's, you know, almost fully vertical.

09:05Or if you want an even lower angle, you can flip it the other way. And in every type of orientation,

09:11let's go back this way. You know, it feels pretty stable. Let me just do it kind of vertical here.

09:19Yeah, it's pretty much stable in any orientation. In terms of the screen protector. So you can see

09:24it adds quite a bit of glare. If you're going to use it with the screen protector, you may want

09:29to consider just punching out the screen protector and just using it with the front bezel for

09:34protection. But taking a closer look, this is what the cutout looks like for the screen protector. So

09:39you can see it's not exactly lined up, but it's still not going to affect your photos. That's

09:44still going to come out fine. And in terms of touch functionality, you know, I could still go

09:48ahead and navigate around. That doesn't seem to really affect how fluid and responsive, you know,

09:53using the screen is. And in terms of fingerprints and smudges. So I'll just go ahead, you know,

09:58kind of put my fingers on her and you could see there's noticeable fingerprints definitely on

10:04there. So the screen seems pretty prone to, you know, having fingerprints or smudges and oils. So

10:10you'll probably want to keep a cloth with this, or like I said, you know, just remove the screen

10:14completely. And if you love to wirelessly charge your phone, like I do, that's no problem with

10:18the poetic case. You still retain full wireless charging. Overall, this is a pretty solid case.

10:23If you're looking for all-around protection for your Z Fold 6, the only thing you have to be

10:28mindful of is that if you are a frequent S-Pen user, that it is a bit problematic or cumbersome

10:34to get this out because you actually kind of have to pull out the entire S-Pen housing and then

10:39separate the S-Pen from the actual housing. Then just do the opposite to put it back in. But if

10:44you're not someone who generally uses the S-Pen in all other aspects, this is a pretty nice case.

10:50You get built-in wireless charging, you have hinge protection on here, which a lot of cases do

10:55miss. There's nice bezels all around, decent protection for the camera lenses, and you have

11:01that built-in kickstand as well. And it doesn't add a lot of bulk at all. So I'm going to leave
