00:00Maritime expert from the Malaysian National University, Sanawatimak Basir,

00:06has advised the government to give priority to the procurement of sea warships

00:11in the coming 2025 budget,

00:13and not just to maintain the existing fleet.

00:17Strictly speaking, the country needs to get more sea warships immediately

00:22because the country's waters are vulnerable to external threats,

00:24especially after the recent flooding by foreign ships.

00:29The country's procurement is scheduled for October 18.

00:34Sanawatimak said that in the long term,

00:36greater costs need to be paid by Putrajaya

00:39to maintain the old sea warships

00:42because they need to continue sailing.

00:45Meanwhile, the former police union president, Mokhtar Omar,

00:48urged the government to provide a special monthly allowance of RM500

00:52to those who served during the times of the emergency between 1948 and 1960,

00:58as well as during the communist uprising between 1963 and 1989.

01:04Mokhtar said that many police officers live in poor conditions,

01:08especially those who live in the east coast,

01:11with their homes often damaged by floods.
