00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most hilarious bloopers
00:13and films that were retained in the final cut.
00:15Oh, and beware, some spoilers are to come.
00:31Even the greatest of actors slip up.
00:32Literally, in this case.
00:34Donald Glover as astrodynamicist Rich Pernell gets a eureka moment when he figures out an
00:39alternate plan to get astronaut Mark Watney back from Mars.
00:42True to his adorkable characterisation, Rich slips and falls just before he gets to his
00:46morning cup of joe.
00:54It turns out Glover's fall was completely accidental.
00:57Glover assumed his mistake would be edited out in post-production, but director Ridley
01:01Scott actually liked it a lot.
01:02The final cut makes for a funny and charming character detail, and all from Glover being
01:06nervous during his first take.
01:21This charming mishap in this seminal Marilyn Monroe movie musical is one for the books.
01:26During her Ain't There Anyone Here for Love number, Jane Russell's Dorothy Shore was
01:30supposed to duck all the handsome diving swimmers in the big ending.
01:33However, as you'll remember from the famous finale, one of them catches her and she falls
01:38in the pool with them.
01:45While the scene was re-shot, the mishap was eventually kept.
01:48Miraculously enough, it even looks kind of intentional.
01:51Like a kind of cheeky send-up to Dorothy's swooning lust.
01:55Gentlemen may prefer blondes, we prefer falling brunettes.
02:03In this scene, Princess Buttercup and Wesley have been caught by the odious Prince Humperdink.
02:13Buttercup agrees to return with Humperdink in exchange for her Wesley's safety.
02:16As soon as Wesley is captured, however, the six-fingered Count Rugen goes back on the
02:20promise and knocks him out with his sword hilt.
02:27The actors were struggling to get satisfactory footage, so Carey Elwes encouraged Christopher
02:32Guest not to hold back.
02:34That thunk ended up landing poor Elwes in the hospital for stitches.
02:38Well, if he paid so dearly for a good shot, we're glad it didn't go to waste in the
02:42end.
02:53Is this the real life, or is it just a hilarious goof?
02:56Matt Damon's Jason Bourne suffers from amnesia and struggles to remember who he is.
03:00If anything exemplifies the themes of identity and loss, then this beautiful shot of Bourne
03:04disappearing at the wharf when a truck passes him.
03:09Or, it would have been beautiful if Matt Damon's jogging legs weren't clearly visible from
03:16under the moving truck.
03:17One may argue that, as Bourne is a secret agent and not a ghost, his being visible was
03:22intentional.
03:23Whatever it is, it is charming, and quite funny.
03:30Okay, we know this film is infamous for its countless historical inaccuracies of all different
03:40kinds, from the historical figures to the fashion, but this goof takes historical anachronism
03:45to a whole new level.
03:53During a rock-throwing contest between William Wallace and Hamish, one of the 13th Century
03:57Scottish onlookers is briefly shown wearing a baseball cap.
04:10I mean talk about being ahead of your time, and not just in fashion, but in Braveheart
04:14merchandise.
04:15It's a hysterical oversight that nevertheless cements Braveheart as an adventure film first
04:19and a historically accurate rendition second.
04:22today.
04:23At least it wasn't a Starbucks cup.
04:37This is a movie that has aged beautifully with its impressively realistic practical
04:41effects and CGI used sparingly.
04:43Still, mistakes do happen.
04:49In this famous, harrowing scene, Tim and Lex Murphy are hiding from the raptors in
04:53the kitchen.
04:54Just when the door flies open and the dinosaur is looking around, you can see a human hand
04:58holding the tail of the animatronic raptor.
05:01Fortunately, it doesn't mar the scene or the terrifyingly convincing dinosaurs.
05:10These dinosaurs were made with metal skeletons powered by electric motors, often requiring
05:14many puppeteers to help out, so there was bound to be a slip-up somewhere.
05:31This self-aware slasher film is a scream, alright, but at least one of the film's
05:35funniest bits turned out to be a complete accident.
05:37In the climax, it's revealed that Billy Loomis is Ghostface, with Stu as his accomplice.
05:46In this scene, the phone goes back and forth between Billy and Stu, with Sydney on the
05:50other line, warning she's called the police.
05:52At one point, Billy snatches up the phone and throws it at Stu in a rage.
05:56This little fury-fuelled action turned out to be a complete accident, as the phone slipped
06:00off course from Skeet Ulrich's blood-soaked hand.
06:03Big props to Matthew Lillard for the smooth and hysterical recovery there.
06:14Some films achieve greatness, but others have greatness thrust upon them, or thrown at
06:19them.
06:20At the end of the first Pirates of the Caribbean, Captain Jack Sparrow escapes by falling into
06:31the sea, only to be rescued by the Black Pearl ship.
06:33Sparrow then takes command of the ship and the new crew, including this cowboy, seemingly
06:38far from home.
06:42Sparrow will at least appreciate his rootin' tootin' shootin' skills out at sea.
06:46No doubt this was a random crew member at the wrong place at the wrong time.
06:50In a film franchise filled with vanishing rum, jars of dirt and Barbossa officiating
06:54headings, this may be the most suspicious moment yet.
07:06This Alfred Hitchcock film already has one iconic scene under its belt, but it also features
07:10one of the most iconic bloopers in film history.
07:15In this scene, Eve Kendall shoots Cary Grant's character with blanks at the Mount Rushmore
07:20Visitor Centre to help maintain her cover.
07:22It is a surprise to the people dining all around them, to be sure, so this kid in the
07:25background must have had pretty good foresight to cover his ears before the blast.
07:31It's a very cute mistake, and we can't say we blame him for wanting to protect his
07:38hearing.
07:49I mean, you would think a 21st century film would go the extra mile to have its props
07:52be at least somewhat believable.
07:55This war drama follows cowboy Chris Kyle, as he rises from Texan ranch hand to US Navy
08:00sniper.
08:01The film's war scenes have been praised for their realism, so it's a little strange
08:04– if undoubtedly amusing – that one of its props should ruin that suspense of disbelief
08:08so majorly.
08:10In one domestic scene, Kyle holds an obviously fake baby.
08:19According to a screenwriter, the first two real babies they tried to cast didn't work
08:23out, so a plastic doll was the final result.
08:25I mean, if nothing else, it's a testament to Bradley Cooper's phenomenal acting chops.
08:30He made that baby come alive.
08:40Printers are the bane of every office's existence, but the performance of the printer
08:44in this seminal comedy was a gift from the comedy gods.
08:47As Michael Bolton talks with his co-workers, Peter and Samir, the printer gives him yet
08:52another error message.
09:00Michael takes a frustrated whack at it, knocking off its feeder in the process.
09:04It turns out this reaction was totally unscripted, but boy, was it satisfying to see.
09:09Even more satisfying is when the guys finally take the underperforming printer and put it
09:13out of its misery in this justly famous scene.
09:16Rest in pieces, printer.
09:17You will not be missed.
09:31So unscripted reactions are the best of all.
09:33In this ending scene at the family cookout, Tyrese Gibson's Roman Pierce makes a joke
09:38at Luke Hobbs' expense, prompting the latter to deliver the quick comeback.
09:49The ad-lib reactions from both Ludacris and Gibson are just perfection, with Ludacris'
09:53spit-take in particular definitely being one for the books.
09:56The resulting scene was deemed so funny that the filmmakers decided to keep it in, and
10:00we definitely approve.
10:01If there's anything certain about this franchise, it's that The Rock can cook.
10:07Freud would have a field day with this one.
10:14Unfortunately for him, this line was in fact a flubbed one.
10:18Titanic's famous painting scene began with a flustered Jack telling an undressed Rose
10:22to lie on the bed, before quickly correcting himself.
10:28This was, in fact, a mistake by DiCaprio.
10:30The original line of dialogue said the location correctly the first time.
10:33It's delivered so naturally, though, and adds just the right note of humour to the
10:36scene that it was kept in the final cut.
10:39We guess art imitates life and imitates art.
10:55Sir Ian McKellen is a Shakespearean-trained actor, and nothing shows this better than
11:00when he played a powerful wizard hitting his head on Bilbo Baggins' ceiling.
11:09This humorous moment had been improvised by McKellen, according to director Peter Jackson,
11:13but it was retained nevertheless for its authenticity and charm.
11:17However, in another interview, McKellen revealed he had actually planned the head-bump moment.
11:22He just never let Jackson know of it, making the latter believe it was unplanned.
11:25Either way, it's a great detail that showcases the best of improv comedy.
11:37The unscripted falls don't stop coming, and they won't stop coming.
11:40Anne Hathaway showed off her acting skills early on as ordinary-turned-extraordinary
11:44teenager Mia, who finds out she's actually the princess of a place called Genovia.
11:54Before that, Mia is awkward and clumsy, as proven in this small throwaway moment when
11:59she accidentally falls on the bleachers.
12:07Hathaway must have really embodied her character, because it turns out, this was all her.
12:11Apparently, it had rained the day before, and the steps were still wet.
12:14Hathaway recovered smoothly, and honestly, the slip works in this scene's favour, adding
12:18some levity and serving as a reminder to the audience that Mia really hasn't changed
12:22all that much.
12:41In this seminal comedy, Williams played harried, drag-club owner Armand, as he prepares to
12:46receive his son Val's future in-laws.
12:49The problem is, they are ultra-conservatives.
12:59Cue comedy gold as Armand tries, in his panic, to straighten his household, with extra emphasis
13:05on the street.
13:06In this famous kitchen scene, Armand takes a small tumble mid-sentence.
13:16It turns out that Williams really did slip, and if you look carefully, you can tell he
13:19and his co-stars almost break.
13:25Like the pro he is, however, Williams rolled with the punches, or rather the floor, and
13:28earned some extra laughs from viewers.
13:46Five suspected criminals are made to come forward and recite a line.
13:50After suspect number two's performance, we were already gone.
13:53But so was Benicio Del Toro as Fred Fenster, apparently.
14:05The moment he stepped forward to deliver the line, he burst into irrepressible giggles.
14:09And so did the other suspects.
14:11It turns out that Del Toro couldn't stop farting, causing everyone to lose it, and
14:16ruining 12 takes in a row.
14:23The final product is purportedly a number of takes stitched together, after the crew
14:27gave up on getting one where no one was laughing.
14:33Old Deuteronomy's human hand, Cats.
14:41This film's crimes against good filmmaking are many, to be sure.
14:45But there is one goof that apparently evaded every pair of eyes analysing the product before
14:49it went out.
14:50Unfortunately, it's a blatant one.
14:52The ending of Cats sees the devious macabity defeated, with Judi Dench's Old Deuteronomy
14:57leading the final number, the addressing of Cats.
15:06Before she does however, the camera zooms in on Dench's very human hand on her otherwise
15:11CGI body.
15:17Perhaps we were lucky to have been spared even more uncanny valley CGI, but this detail
15:22does make for the cherry on top of an already disastrous cake.
15:40One of the most beloved bloopers that were left in is yet another head bump.
15:44As Luke, Han and Chewbacca disguise themselves as stormtroopers to rescue Princess Leia,
15:48the actual stormtroopers are on the move to stop them.
15:51Or at least three of them are, as one of them bumps his head against the ceiling.
16:00This was an accident on the actor's part, although which actor it was has still not
16:04been definitely confirmed.
16:05Either way, Luke must have been right about not being able to see in those helmets.
16:35There's some differing accounts about what actually went down here, but the quote is
16:39just too legendary to exclude from our list.
16:42From Dustin Hoffman himself, the story goes that when filming this scene, the set was
16:46left open and a real taxi cab almost hit the actors, prompting Hoffman to shout his famous
16:51line.
16:59Jerome Hellman on the other hand, has claimed that the whole thing was actually in the script.
17:03Either way, the scene came out impeccably, a comically realistic moment that exemplifies
17:08the film's themes of dignity and demanding respect.
17:15So which other funny movie mistakes have you noticed?
