Wolverine has a Power in the Comics that Almost no one Remembers Exists

Anyone who is a fan of Marvel teams knows that at some point a certain character demonstrated one or another power that was never mentioned again in other stories, or that only returns when necessary for the plot being told. And Wolverine didn't escape this narrative trope.

In many stories about the character and the X-Men, we see Logan on adventures through the jungle and other inhospitable places with dangerous animals. However, in addition to fighting gigantic and brutal animals, the character always ends up forming bonds with some other more “domestic” beings, mainly wolves and wild dogs.

This is due to an often forgotten and underused power of the character: Animal empathy. In comics from the 80s and 90s, especially in stories written by Chris Claremont and Peter David, Wolverine always demonstrated an emotional and primitive connection with animals.

In the character's first solo magazine, Wolverine #1 by Claremont and with art by Frank Miller, the hero has to go through a big dog and says he communicates with the animal “on a much more understandable and subtle level than words”. Soon after, he highlights his disdain for having to kill animals.

At other times, such as in Marvel Comics Presents #85, written by David and with art by Sam Kieth, from 1991, we see the mutant befriending a wild wolf, understanding the animal's motivations and helping it - cutting the meat of a hunt. of the animal with its adamantium claws so it can eat more easily. When the animal offers a piece of raw meat, Wolverine accepts.

In a conversation with Jubilee, the character already called a pack of wolves family, saying that he had been welcomed by their ancestors. However, in more recent comics, the character seems to have lost or forgotten this ability most of the time, but this power usually returns when necessary for the story or the current writer is a fan of the hero's classic comics.
