00:00This video was recently captured just off the coast of Almeria, Spain, and this is the moment
00:04a couple of fishermen noticed a baby dolphin in distress and came to the rescue of the marine
00:10mammal. The pair say they only noticed the in-peril infant dolphin because of its mother,
00:14which was attempting to keep its child afloat after it got tangled in a net. The two men,
00:18Jose Ramon and Miguel Rodriguez, say they believe the mother was actually asking for help,
00:23seemingly waving to the leisure fisherman, with Rodriguez saying about it, quote,
00:27The mother put her side out of the water. She was trying to call us.
00:31They say that when they got there, the mother didn't leave the baby's side for a second,
00:34with Rodriguez adding she was holding it set up the whole time, and the rope was even chewed.
00:39The boaters immediately called local conservation authorities, who decided the situation was too
00:44dire to wait for experts to arrive, instead instructing the fishermen to free the infant.
00:49They say it's unclear how long the animal had been trapped there, but add that its tail had
00:52become bloodied from attempting to free itself. Authorities say the rope was an illegal trap,
00:57and that they know who had placed it there. That person has since been reported to the police,
01:01and hopefully a scene like this one won't happen again soon.
