00:00This is Thomas Kwan, a British doctor who just pleaded guilty to attempted murder in a wild, albeit unsuccessful, scheme.
00:07His target was his mother's partner, Patrick O'Hara.
00:10Prosecutors allege that Kwan had concerns that his mother's will dictated that her home would go to O'Hara in the event of her passing.
00:17So Kwan devised a murder plot that is truly, as prosecutors put it, stranger than fiction.
00:23Kwan was caught on CCTV cameras using false plates to disguise his vehicle and driving to Newcastle in Northern England.
00:30Before checking into a hotel under a false name.
00:32He then put on a wig and applied a fake moustache and goatee before taking on the role of a nurse during a visit with his mother and her partner.
00:39Kwan reportedly even took his mother's blood pressure during the visit without her identifying him.
00:44However, he then administered what was supposed to be a COVID vaccine to O'Hara.
00:48But instead, the syringe was filled with an as yet unconfirmed toxin meant to poison him.
00:53The shot caused a case of necrotizing fasciitis in the victim, a flesh eating bacterial infection which can be fatal.
00:59O'Hara survived and Kwan, a family doctor, has now pleaded guilty to attempted murder and administering a noxious substance.
