00:00If you ever think there's no way out of your difficult predicament, just remember

00:05there's a man who managed to escape from a whale's throat.

00:08No, not Jonah, but Michael Packard, a commercial lobster diver who went down in history after

00:14a humpback whale slurped him up near Cape Cod.

00:18On this particular day, Packard was 45 feet underwater lurking for lobsters when he felt

00:23a huge bump.

00:25Instantly, everything went dark.

00:27He feared it was the worst – a shark must've attacked him.

00:30But then he saw no sharp teeth around him and felt no terrible pain.

00:35He soon realized he was inside a whale's mouth, and the whale was trying to swallow

00:40his accidental lunch.

00:42The diver was still in his scuba gear and had his breathing apparatus on.

00:46He realized he might never see his family again as he had few chances of making it out

00:51alive.

00:52But around half a minute later, the whale went up to the surface of the water and started

00:56shaking from side to side.

00:58He spat Packard out, and the diver landed in the water without any serious injuries

01:03– just some bruises.

01:05Now lobster divers normally work in pairs, and one of them stays on the surface to track

01:10their colleague.

01:11So his crewmate immediately came to the rescue.

01:14There was also a charter boat captain nearby, and he helped to pull Packard aboard.

01:18Michael was taken to the hospital and left it with a slight limp the same afternoon.

01:24Experts say that humpback whales rarely interact with humans.

01:27So this big guy was probably trying to snack on some small fish and ingested Packard by

01:33accident.

01:34The diver would've unlikely fit in the whale's throat because its esophagus is small.

01:39So sometimes, a story really is too hard to swallow.

01:43Did I say that?

01:46In 2015, an Alaska Airlines flight going to Los Angeles had to return to Seattle after

01:5214 minutes of flying.

01:53The passengers aboard heard some loud banging.

01:56It was coming from the cargo hold.

01:59It turned out that a baggage handler fell asleep down there while the plane was still

02:03on the ground.

02:04He woke up after a piece of luggage had fallen on his head.

02:07Willa Jr. couldn't believe it was happening to him.

02:10He didn't expect to survive, but he still called the company he was working for and

02:15911.

02:16The call was cut after 44 seconds, so he didn't manage to get a response on what to do.

02:21Jr. didn't give up and started screaming for help and banging at the ceiling.

02:26The passengers who heard the banging started to panic.

02:29The crew figured out what was going on, and the plane turned back to Seattle.

02:34At that point, the baggage handler also started to panic but for a different reason.

02:38He saw the police, the helicopters, and his boss on the ground and thought he would have

02:43to go to jail.

02:44He explained he didn't have lunch after 7 hours into his shift and just dozed off.

02:50He went back to work the following day and promised he would never fall asleep on a

02:54plane again, at least in the cargo hold.

02:57In Arizona, a man heard some screaming inside the chimney of his neighbor's house.

03:03He called the fire department, and they found a 26-year-old man in there.

03:07He spent 4 hours inside the chimney before his happy rescue and was all covered in soot.

03:13He explained to his rescuers that he got stuck as he tried to get into his own house after

03:18he had locked the keys inside.

03:20He went down deep enough to touch the floor with his feet but got stuck in the narrower

03:24part of the chimney near the fireplace.

03:27The fire crew lowered a rope down the chimney and pulled the young man onto the roof.

03:31He didn't have any injuries and became one of several people in Arizona who had been

03:36saved from chimneys before.

03:38Someone else fell down while playing, and another guy got inside just for fun.

03:45Sometimes firefighters don't have to take down flames but instead pull people out of

03:50storm drains.

03:52In California, a woman saw legs trapped halfway in a manhole in the street.

03:57As it turned out later, a 21-year-old man spent 40 minutes down there.

04:02He jumped in, trying to get his cell phone out.

04:05Police came to the rescue but couldn't do anything to help.

04:08Only the firefighters managed to rescue him using special netting equipment.

04:13Later he told the news channels he had been followed by some criminals.

04:17So the next time you use a public bathroom, make sure there's no one sticking out of it.

04:22In Norway, a man somehow managed to climb feet-first inside a toilet to retrieve his

04:28friend's phone.

04:29The tank was not connected to the sewer and was only emptied once a season.

04:35The brave volunteer stood thigh-deep in whatever was inside the toilet for an hour.

04:41Firefighters had to break the toilet to help our hero.

04:43He later shared it was the most disgusting experience in his life, and he was afraid

04:48of confined spaces.

04:49It must've been one priceless phone he went through all this for.

04:53He didn't manage to get it out, by the way.

04:56Also unknown is whether he remained friends with the phone guy.

04:59I mean, come on!

05:01Turkish custom officials noticed a Georgian citizen acting weirdly at the border.

05:06They decided to inspect his luggage in every detail.

05:09They didn't find any banned items inside, except for a 22-year-old girl.

05:15She was slim enough to hide inside a regular suitcase in an uncomfortable fetal position.

05:20She was trying to smuggle herself into Turkey because she was banned from visiting the country

05:25legally.

05:26Could there have been a reason for that?

05:28Anyway, the couple's plan didn't work out, and they were both sent home to Georgia and

05:32instructed never to come back.

05:35People who went to chill at Lady Bird Lake in Texas one summer afternoon surely didn't

05:41expect to see a massive rescue operation.

05:43911 received several phone calls from those who noticed a boat hanging up against the

05:49Longhorn Dam.

05:50There were 4 people in the boat, seconds away from tipping over.

05:54One of the onlookers who was fishing nearby noticed a hand waving from the side of the

05:59boat, probably calling for help.

06:01The rental boat got too close to the dam and got stuck on the spillway, which was opened

06:05because of the heavy rains in the area.

06:08The small electric vessel didn't have the power to reverse to safety.

06:12The emergency services designed an entire rescue plan.

06:16They lowered 4 life jackets from a helicopter to the stuck passengers.

06:20The fire department prepared to rescue them downstream in case the boat tipped over.

06:25Luckily for everyone, a lake patrol boat pulled the rental to safe waters, and all the passengers

06:30were perfectly fine.

06:32It was probably the only incident of this kind near Longhorn Dam, at least in the past

06:3725 years.

06:39A group of 3 friends in the Indian state of Kerala went trekking in the hills.

06:44One of them was really tired, and he slipped and fell down a crevice.

06:48His friends tried to pull him up with vines and sticks but failed.

06:52And so, the 23-year-old was left on the face of a steep hill, waiting for help.

06:58He was sending photos to his friends to make sure they had his exact location.

07:03Police and fire department reached the hill the same night but couldn't help because

07:06of poor visibility.

07:08They lit torches to scare away wild animals from the location.

07:13The defense force sent a helicopter to his rescue, but that mission failed.

07:18Then 2 units of special forces trained in mountaineering, rock climbing, and rappelling

07:22arrived at the location.

07:25The trekker was starting to lose hope as he was hanging at the height of 1,968 ft for

07:30over 40 hours at that point, without food or water.

07:34The rescue was promised to bring him some water soon, and it gave the guy new hope.

07:39The team decided it would be better to pull the trekker up the crevice, not downhill.

07:44Two rescuers rappelled down to him.

07:46One of them previously climbed up to the top of Mount Everest.

07:50The adventurous young man was given food and water and then carried upstairs, where

07:55he received first aid and was then airlifted to the hospital.
