00:00Right now, Hurricane Milton is hurtling towards Florida, expected to make landfall Wednesday or Thursday as a Category 5 storm.
00:07And while residents are being urged to evacuate, a new roadblock has emerged for those trying to get out.
00:12Some gas stations are out of gas.
00:14According to fuel tracking site GasBuddy, as of 8 p.m. Tuesday night, one out of five gas stations are completely out of fuel.
00:21The hurricane is looking to hit the southern state head-on, moving directly through its midsection.
00:26That includes Tampa Bay and Orlando, two of the state's top five most populated cities.
00:31Reports have already indicated long lines emerging at gas stations all over the state.
00:35But as the storm approaches, energy experts say this is unsurprising.
00:39According to the director of the Business of Energy Transition Initiative at the University of Southern California's Marshall School, Sean Hyatt,
00:46Port Tampa Bay is where all of central Florida gets its gas.
00:49But with the storm approaching, tanker ships are not.
00:52Telling Business Insider, quote, in this case, Florida is extremely vulnerable because they don't have any other pipelines.
00:59So it's almost like an island.
