00:06Located in the south of Morocco on the Atlantic coast, the unmissable seaside resort of Agadir is popular for its laid back atmosphere, the hot sand and its gulf.
00:20Join me, Immy Barkley, as I embark on this new stage of Gulf Travel Tales, exploring the beauty and excitement of Agadir like never before.
00:34The Bay of Agadir offers these sheltered waters with a wonderful intermediate swell, which is ideal for learning to surf or simply enjoying the ocean.
00:44I'm heading to nearby Tagazou to try my hand at surfing. It's only 20 minutes from Agadir. It's home to several spots with impressive waves.
00:52Hi. Hi. I'm Lokman. I'm going to be your surf coach today. Let me show you around.
00:57Oh, thank you, Lokman. So, time to get kitted out. I like the silver one.
01:02Yeah. We're going to try to find you a good size for you.
01:05Okay.
01:06Surfing looks so much fun. What kind of thrill do you get out of it?
01:09You're more connected to nature, mainly the ocean, because it's a big part of our planet.
01:14And Lokman, tell me, where are the main surf spots in Agadir?
01:18Three main spots that are like more advanced, like Killer's Point, Mysteries, Anchors, and we got also the Beach Break Panorama close by, which is for beginners. So, that's what makes it a destination for everyone.
01:32Since I'm in Tagazou, I'm going to take the opportunity to hit some balls at the hilly course of the seaside resort called Tazakzou Golf.
01:42Surrounding a cliff that rises 80 meters above sea level, this 18-hole course has got these spectacular views onto the Atlantic and is dotted around with argan trees.
01:55This fun technical links course was designed for beginners.
01:58This 18-hole course has got these spectacular views onto the Atlantic and is dotted around with argan trees.
02:08This fun technical links course was designed by Kyle Phillips. It was also built around its environment, protecting the existing argan trees and preserving water by planting new vegetation with lower water needs.
02:22To kick off my day here in Agadir, I decided to visit Souk El Had, which houses Morocco's largest market behind its clay walls.
02:32With some 6,000 stalls offering spices, fruit, leather goods, carpets, jewelry, lamps, oils, and soaps. And once I finish shopping, there's plenty more to see.
02:42Immerse yourself in Amazigh culture. Check out the Amazigh Heritage Museum to learn about their ancient cultural heritage.
02:49Amazigh means Amazigh culture.
02:53Immerse yourself in Amazigh culture. Check out the Amazigh Heritage Museum to learn about their ancient cultural heritage.
03:00Amazigh means free people. They have their own unique language, traditional art, music, and are very proud of their culture.
03:08Agadir offers some breathtaking golf courses. I'm going to hit the ball here at Golf du Soleil.
03:15Between the sea and the mountains, situated in this beautiful eucalyptus forest.
03:21Well, where shall we go?
03:28Golf du Soleil has two 18-hole golf courses.
03:31The championship course is host to the Challenge Tour and EPD Tour.
03:35Wide fairways, well-defended greens, and welcoming bunkers characterize this course.
03:41Eva, this course is so lush, so green.
03:45Thanks a lot.
03:46How do you manage that?
03:47It's reused water. We are sustainable since 2020 and very proud of it.
03:53Once the clubs are in order, it's time to head up to the campsite.
03:58Once the clubs are in order, it's time to head up to the Casbah.
04:01Just a short ride on the cable car to the top.
04:04Halil, hello.
04:05Hello, Ingrid. How are you?
04:06I'm very good, thank you.
04:08Feel welcome in the Casbah. This is a historic Casbah in Agadir Oufillah.
04:13So, let me show you around and you will have more stories inside of this Casbah.
04:18The Casbah was founded in the late 16th century, a major hub in the trans-Saharan trade caravan.
04:25And it has this breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Agadir and a stunning sunset.
04:31It really is the most perfect place to end my Agadir adventure.
04:43And whilst you're in the area, why not also stop by the Royal Gulf Agadir,
04:47Gulf de Dune, Gulf de l'Océan, Gulf Tagazoute and Gulf du Soleil.
