00:00I think you judge yourself on how many games you can affect and how many games you can win, help win.
00:06I think that's a big driver for me, is how many times can contribute to winning games for England.
00:12With that mindset and the mindset of trying to be successful in whatever conditions are in front of you,
00:19I think that's a good enough driver for me to keep going and want to keep enjoying it and keep playing.
00:25So, yeah, I just enjoy that at the moment.
00:31Yeah, I've played a lot of my cricket with Joe for England.
00:35Played a lot of cricket against him when we were younger, grew up together.
00:38To score that many runs, you'd think that there'd have to be a little bit of selfishness about a player,
00:42but everything that he does when he's got his bat and his hand is all about the team.
00:45He's an incredible player. It's going to take a long, long time for someone to come in and break that record.
00:49Non-selfishness that he possesses is one thing I think sets him apart from anybody else who's going to play for England for a long time.
00:59Look, his performances, as we know, have been so outstanding for such a long period of time for England.
01:06It takes a lot of skill, it takes a lot of endeavour, it takes a lot of patience.
01:09I could keep going, but that's exactly what it is.
01:13He's someone that just loves batting.
01:16He loves being out there, he loves the occasion, he loves representing his country.
01:21I have good memories of watching Joe come onto the international scene.
01:25As opposition, you always try and disrupt the opposition's batting plans, and Joe is always, when we play England,
01:34he's that vital wicket that we look to get early on in the innings.
01:39And that's a compliment to his game, to the longevity, to consistency over so many years.
01:46He's got a great game, understands situations really well and a keen understanding of the game.
01:51At 33, you think he could easily go until he's 37, 38, maybe even 39.
01:55So, if he plays all the Test matches from now until then, I don't see why not.
02:02He's too good of a player to not at least get close to, but I personally would be backing him to go past it.
02:10I think he will go down as the best England player of all time.
02:15I mean, it's quite difficult to compare eras because everyone has their favourites, you know.
02:22Would Joe Root score runs against the great West Indian bowler in tact?
02:25I don't know. Probably, yeah.
02:39.
