00:2413 of them are still in the hospital because they are surrogates.

00:31Surrogacy happens when a woman is hired to give birth to another woman's child.

00:37The fertilized egg is injected to the surrogate mother from another person.

00:42Commercial surrogacy is legal in many countries.

00:52But this is prohibited in Cambodia.

00:54According to the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia,

00:57Filipinos are recruited online by a person who knows their identity and nationality.

01:03According to the Bureau of Immigration,

01:05Cambodia is one of the countries that are closely monitored when it comes to human trafficking.

01:11The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group has not yet monitored an online recruitment targeting surrogate mothers.

01:18That is why the DFA is forcing surrogates to work online so that they can give birth.
