00:00Thousands of people are out here on the streets of Taipei celebrating the country's 113th
00:05birthday.
00:06Now, this is the main event of the day, over three hours of performances showcasing the
00:11strength and talents of Taiwan.
00:19Kicking off the parade, we have the Taipei First Girls High School Honor Guard, accompanied
00:24by the Brave Eagles aerobatics team from the ROC Air Force, and behind them on the main
00:28stage, President Lai Ching-tze, watching them on this occasion for the very first time as
00:34the nation's leader.
00:35People in the audience tell me that each year brings something new to the parade, all while
00:40showcasing the diversity of Taiwan.
01:09Diversity was also one of the main themes of President Lai's speech.
01:13And with special guests in the parade this year, ranging from Taiwan's Olympic medalists
01:17to a Taiwanese-Vietnamese dance troupe representing new immigrants, it's clear that this event
01:22is trying to be as inclusive as possible.
01:25Now, the festivities are set to continue with a fireworks show in Yunlin County in central
01:30Taiwan, really spreading that celebratory spirit from here at the presidential office
01:35to every corner of the nation on its birthday.
