00:04That's according to a study released by WalletHub Monday.
00:07The personal finance company ranked American cities on the basis of safety,
00:11including specifically natural disaster risk.
00:14Juneau, Alaska was listed as safest by that metric.
00:17It was followed by Vancouver, Washington, Anchorage, Alaska, Lewiston, Maine, and Casper, Wyoming.
00:23The potential natural disasters considered included earthquakes, riverine floods,
00:28hail, hurricane storm surges, tornadoes, and wildfires.
00:32The least safe city by this metric was Houston, Texas.
00:35Three other Texas cities were included in the bottom five.
00:38Local disaster conditions are on many people's minds now as Hurricane Milton sweeps over Florida,
00:44raising anxieties about that state's ability to withstand future extreme weather events.
00:48Tampa, which is being hit hard by Milton, ranked 116th in terms of natural disaster safety
00:53out of the 171 American cities listed by WalletHub.
