Frank Skinner is bringing his latest stand-up tour to Liverpool in November. The comedy legend's career began in 1987 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Now, following a sell-out UK and Ireland Spring tour, the comic is coming to the Empire Theatre with his show, ‘30 Years of Dirt’.

00:00Frank Skinner is bringing his new stand-up show, 30 Years of Dirt, to Liverpool's Empire Theatre
00:05on Sunday 24th of November. The comic legend's been telling us about the show and his love of
00:10the city. I've been doing stand-up now for a little over 30 years but basically it's always
00:19been a bit on the rude side and I made an attempt in recent times to try and clean it up and make
00:27it a bit more sophisticated and anyone who comes to see this show will see whether I succeeded or
00:34failed. Tell me how you're feeling about coming up to Liverpool to do this show? I know obviously
00:39you've got the connection with the lightning seeds. No, I love it. I've had some brilliant
00:45times there, not just as a comedian but just as a person. I went to see Paul McCartney once in
00:52Albert Dock and there's a moment I think this really sums up Liverpool because I got spotted
00:59in the audience. I was with what's become my life partner but at the time we hadn't been
01:04together that long and we both thought it was an indoor gig so she'd got just like a vest top
01:12and I'd got a Beatles t-shirt on. Someone had sent over a couple of fleeces for us to put on
01:19and I thought piling into you and really taking the mickey out of you and then giving you the
01:24fleece is sort of what Liverpool is really. I went up many, many years long before you were born.
01:31You won't believe this but West Brom was top of what was then called Division One but now
01:38the Premier League. I went up to Anfield to watch the game. In those days this was before
01:44seats and stuff. So when you went for a wee at halftime you didn't go to the toilet you just
01:50stood at the steps and just we'd down the steps. So I remember when we ran out of there my mate
01:56slipped on it because it was like skiing.
