00:00We will discuss an important institution that gives hope and support to children in need of help since 1990.
00:10This is Father Simpletiano Children's Home Incorporated.
00:14And to discuss the objectives and initiatives of this organization, we will have with us
00:20some of the broadcasting students from Bulacan State University,
00:24Niko Tuazon and Nathalie Nora, who are helping the FSCHI.
00:30Good morning. Welcome to Rise and Shine Pilipinas.
00:33Good morning. Good morning.
00:34Niko and Nathalie.
00:35Good morning.
00:36Good morning, Niko and Nathalie.
00:37What are the objectives and initiatives of this non-profit organization?
00:45Well, Father Simpletiano Children's Home is actually a home for the orphan children.
00:53This orphanage is located in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan,
00:57which caters to orphan children, children in need.
01:03And some of the children here are victims of abuse from their parents and families.
01:11These are the children held by this institution of Father Simpletiano.
01:17Okay, so as broadcasting students, this is part of your thesis
01:22because I understand that these theses are action-oriented.
01:25Yes, action research.
01:26Action research, rather.
01:28And then you will increase awareness of the public about this organization.
01:33Now, throughout your study, what are the challenges that you noticed?
01:38And what are your recommendations to increase the awareness of the public about this organization?
01:46So far, when we first saw Father Simpletiano Children's Home,
01:51their media presence was really low, especially on social media.
01:56Their last post was back in 2022.
02:00And of all the organizations that we saw, they were the ones that reached us the most.
02:07And our hearts deepened to help them more when we talked to them personally
02:13because that's when we confirmed that the children in Father Simpletiano Children's Home are in need.
02:20That's why, as students, it was a big help for us that they agreed to be our case study
02:31because it's not a joke that the children's cases are inside the institution.
02:38And so far, the challenges that they are facing,
02:42first of all, it's financial. It's a financial struggle.
02:47Financial struggle is a big help in extending help to the services that Father Simpletiano Children's Home offers.
02:54One of those services is educational assistance, medical assistance, and home.
03:01Those are the basic needs of the children.
03:04Okay.
03:05Aside from what you mentioned, the awareness of the people is really lacking.
03:13The main objective of the study is to raise awareness.
03:20To raise awareness to the public that there is an institution like Father Simpletiano Children's Home.
03:27Just like other orphanages that care for children,
03:32Father Simpletiano Children's Home is lacking in their daily needs.
03:42And the freedom of the people is a big thing
03:48so that the lack of people in the institution can be addressed.
03:56You mentioned that your study is to increase awareness in FSCHI.
04:02So, so far, what are the programs that this organization is doing
04:07so that the public can know more about FSCHI?
04:12So far, what we have been working on,
04:15because in this time, like the youth,
04:21who talk a lot on social media,
04:25this is what we have been focusing on
04:28to strengthen the media presence of Father Simpletiano Children's Home.
04:34And this is also a way to reach more people
04:43so that more people can help this institution.
04:52One of the challenges, I will just add,
04:57because I am from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
05:00That's where I am from.
05:02That's where Father Simpletiano Children's Home is.
05:04But prior to our thesis, I didn't know him.
05:08I just learned about him when I searched for him.
05:10And one of the activities that we saw that can be done
05:14is we have face-to-face activities,
05:17Zumba for Echoes, things like that,
05:19where we promote and tell our beneficiaries
05:23that we are Father Simpletiano Children's Home.
05:25So many people want to help.
05:27They found out,
05:29that it's just in San Jose,
05:31that it's just here in our area.
05:33So it's a big deal
05:35to tell our friends that there is a place like this.
05:39A word of mouth.
05:40Yes, a word of mouth.
05:41It's a big deal for us to promote this institution.
05:45So these activities for Echoes have already been done?
05:48Yes, it has already been done, actually.
05:50And there are still some people conducting
05:53and planning possible activities
05:56that can help to reach more people,
06:00not just in the area, actually,
06:03but also in other areas.
06:05Since you did the case study,
06:08as mentioned earlier,
06:10the social media page is not that active.
06:13Since you did the case study,
06:15how was the reception of the public?
06:18Now, the engagement is increasing.
06:22The likes are increasing.
06:23Then the comments.
06:25There are people messaging us.
06:28There are people commenting that
06:30this is the orphanage that we are supporting.
06:32Can we have a birthday there?
06:35Can we help the children?
06:37We are just passing by.
06:38There are such help that makes our hearts beat
06:41because we see that what we are doing for the institution is fruitful.
06:46Okay, how big is the organization?
06:48The organization, the institution,
06:50caters 40 children for now,
06:52ages 5 to 19 years old.
06:55Those are the children.
06:57Okay, and the organization helps them study?
07:01It helps them study.
07:03Actually, there is a school
07:06next to this institution,
07:08the Immaculate Heart of Mary School.
07:10This is owned and run by the nuns of the Franciscan,
07:14the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts.
07:17These are the mothers.
07:19They are also the ones who are in charge of the school and the orphanage.
07:22So that the children in the orphanage
07:25can directly study here in the school.
07:29So that the children's education is not neglected.
07:35I just want to go back.
07:37When I was a college student at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila,
07:41we also have a research subject.
07:46And one of the things we did,
07:48we had an outreach in a small community in a barangay in Manila.
07:53So that's it.
07:54At least here, we will show that as broadcasting students,
07:57we are using what we learned correctly.
08:01It's not just mass communication,
08:03it's not about TV or radio broadcasting.
08:06It's about how we can introduce,
08:10how we can let the public know how we can help other people.
08:15I hope this can be the goal of other broadcasting students
08:19to use their voice and platform.
08:21So that other advocates can be stronger.
08:23Since this is about increasing awareness,
08:27take this time to also invite our viewers
08:31to support the activities of FSCHI.
08:34Go ahead.
08:35Alright.
08:36To all our RSPs,
08:39we are inviting you,
08:41especially during Christmas time,
08:44especially for children,
08:47maybe there are good-hearted people who can help
08:52FSCHI.
08:55You can visit them personally at the orphanage
08:59or message the FSCHI Facebook page
09:04so that your inquiries and questions
09:08for ways to help can also be catered.
09:12For me, personally, I believe that people,
09:16especially Filipinos,
09:18are naturally generous.
09:20Being generous doesn't mean that we will just give money.
09:25Being generous in terms of giving,
09:28in terms of service,
09:29in terms of time,
09:32is a big help for us.
09:35If we cannot provide financial assistance,
09:38we can use our voices,
09:42our humanity,
09:45to raise awareness,
09:47to tell our friends,
09:49because that is the biggest thing that we can give to people.
09:53Okay. Thank you so much, Nico Tuason and Nathalie Nora,
09:57for sharing with us the details about
09:59Father Simpliciano Children's Home Incorporated
10:02and for those who want to help,
10:04you can contact FSCHI.
10:07Okay, Nathalie and Nico.
10:10Thank you so much and all the best for your study.
10:13Yes, thank you very much.
10:14And this is a big thing for FSCHI,
10:16what you are doing today.
10:18Thanks, Nico.
10:20And thank you, Nathalie.
