TikTok lays off staff in Malaysia, hundreds affected globally

00:33from its Malaysian unit will be laid off as the company shifts focus towards the greater

00:38use of artificial intelligence in content moderation.

00:42The workers, most of whom were involved in content moderation operations, were informed

00:46of their dismissal late Wednesday.

00:49ByteDance has over 110,000 employees in more than 200 cities globally.

00:56The report said the company plans for more retrenchments next month as it looks to consolidate
