00:17While ABC had initially revealed that the new season of the show and Sajak's last ever
00:22as host will return this October.
00:24Parade has learned that is no longer the case, as the series' return has been delayed.
00:29Celebrity Wheel of Fortune – Press Your Luck in ABC News' Commando will premiere
00:33in 2025.
00:35The network said in a new press release shared with TVLine on Friday, Oct. 11, pushing the
00:41series' original premiere date back by a few months.
00:45Thankfully, the decision to delay airing has nothing to do with the host, who walked away
00:50from Wheel of Fortune last season and is set to ring in his 78th birthday in just two weeks.
00:55As it's presumed that he's already taped most of the season given that the trailer
00:59for the upcoming season had already been released before it was removed, likely in response
01:05to the news.
01:06Instead, sports are to blame.
01:09According to the official announcement, ABC is adding six Monday Night Football.
01:14Simeulcast to its previously announced schedule is part of a new deal and it's not the first.
01:19Time the network has issued a shakeup to its fall 2024 programming.
01:24The decision to add more Simeulcast games was made in conjunction with the NFL and is
01:29just for the 2024-25 season, the statement read.
01:34This schedule leans into the cross-promotional opportunities, maximizing the reach of NFL
01:39programming across the Disney ecosystem.
01:41ESPN has already aired four exclusive games during 2020 for season and will have three
01:48additional exclusive games, with two in November and one in December.
01:53There are 25 games on ESPN's 2020-for-NFL schedule.
01:58This move will give the ABC game show celebrity, Wheel of Fortune, and Press Your Luck, a more
02:03consistent weekly run in midseason when there are less preemptions i.e. football, 2020-for-election,
02:10the broadcast company added.
02:12Though the network hasn't announced a new premiere date for Sajak's end-off season.
02:17It will likely air in its usual time slot on Monday nights.
