00:00Okay, well I'm Mike Harrod. I'm chairman of the trustees of the Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust
00:05and we've been rehoming retired racing greyhounds since 1978. Currently from our kennels at
00:14Newhouse Farm Twynham in West Sussex where we've been resident for 15 years. It's desperately
00:21difficult finding homes for retired dogs at the moment. It's got worse since the
00:27Covid pandemic. We're struggling to find enough homes for the dogs and there are plenty of dogs
00:35that are retiring, probably due to an over supply in the greyhound industry.
00:44So we need desperately more adopters. They do make wonderful pets.
00:52They're couch potatoes. They don't need lots and lots of exercise. 20 minutes twice a day is more
00:59than enough for them. They're pretty good with children, especially if the children are
01:04experienced with dogs. They're great with elderly people because of the need for very little
01:11exercise and they really do make wonderful companions and we find that most people that
01:17have had a greyhound will never ever consider any other breed. They just they become part of
01:24your life. They can contact us by going on to our website www.brightonrgt.org.uk
01:36where they'll find the contact details of our kennels,
01:39where they should speak to our kennel supervisor Mrs Kaz Salas.
