00:00Y'all, Slime Green Beats in the building back again, I got the mouse cam out for this automation
00:06clip tutorial. Before we get started, make sure you guys check out the How to Make Beats book
00:11brought to you by Slime Green Beats. It's our newest book on mixing beats and whatnot.
00:18All right, so automation clips. I'm just going to show you like the basics of automation clips.
00:23First, we're going to drag in this sample here.
00:26Standalone Drums, The Walk, and the STLN Drums Kit brought to you by hiphopdrumsamples.com.
00:36Dang, I forgot to put my headphones on. All right, it's the first time I've done this in a video.
00:46Good lord.
00:47All right, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. All right, so we have this clip here.
01:00Let's go to the channel rack. Let's add it to channel one. So the first automation clip,
01:05the most basic one is, is the volume. So you can right click on the volume knob here.
01:10Right click, go to create automation clip. Now, if you see this, these, this icon here,
01:18that kind of looks like an automation clip, click on this, make sure you unselect, deselect these.
01:26All right. Now, what we can do is right click. We can like, I mean, this kind of speaks for itself.
01:34Like this is like the volume up. This is the volume down. One thing you want to note is like,
01:39what is the default volume? You can find this by right clicking here, click copy value.
01:48It's usually like an 80%. Usually the default is 80% for the volume. Right. So if you say you want
01:54this to return to the default volume here, you can right click, paste the value 80%. So it goes
02:03from 80 down and then back up to 80. Now say you want to add like a filter cutoff,
02:17like say you want to add some type of filter and you want to cut it off at a certain point.
02:21So you want like an intro or something. So we can reset this just by pasting it like that.
02:27All right. Say you want, we want some type of a filter. So let's like add an effect. We'll use
02:33free love filter, free love filter. So to automate, to automate this right click on this knob right
02:42here and then click create automation clip. So say we want like a free love filter intro type
02:49of thing with this all the way up, you know, it's at a hundred percent. You'll see like it
02:54corresponds with this knob here. Say we want to take it completely off there. We're going to want
03:01to bring the entire automation clip down there. So it's going to have like some type of like fade
03:05in intro. Let's look at that again. You see like, and this is the mixing knob here.
03:24So it's kind of like shows how much of an effect this mixing effect has, this mixing VST has.
03:33That's pretty much it. Say if you want to like fade out a track, I think this is also like
03:37probably one of the most important things. Again, make sure you have the value 80%. Say we just want
03:45to fade out the last, we'll say like just this ending part right here, the last two bars,
03:56just the last two bars. We'll go like this, paste because we want to keep it at 80%.
04:03Now grab this and bring it down and then the track is going to fade out. So this is important
04:08because it's important to end tracks correctly or you know effects, but I often like pay attention
04:15to how you end a beat. That's pretty useful way to do it. Pretty classy way to do it.
04:20So that's automation clip basics. Let me know if you guys have any questions. This is Slime
