00:00Hello, welcome to your latest national weather update. More showers to come through the weekend.
00:05There are signs of things turning a bit drier though next week. Before then though this
00:10area of low pressure is slowly creeping in. It's bringing some quite heavy rain on Friday
00:15night to parts of Northern Ireland and that weather front will then trudge across other
00:18parts of the country as we go through Saturday. Spreading its way on Friday night across parts
00:23of Scotland, North West England. Some bright colours there, some quite heavy downpours
00:27for a time but it is all moving through. The heavy showers from Friday evening across
00:32the North East, they are fading away and much of Eastern England will become dry overnight.
00:37Going to be a fairly warm night, temperatures holding up in the teens in many towns and
00:41cities. On to the weekend then and we start with this weather front, this line of rain
00:47across from Yorkshire down through the Midlands, South East Wales and South West England. Slowly
00:52heading eastwards but kind of fizzling out as it does so. Ahead of that, actually East
00:57Anglia in the South East. A fine day by and large here with dry and bright conditions
01:01and sunny spells. It won't be until later we see the showers arriving here. Elsewhere
01:05though it will be a case of seeing some fairly heavy showers developing once more. Probably
01:10won't rain all day, there will be some brighter spells particularly in North Wales, North
01:13West England. A bit of sunshine coming through at times but staying fairly cloudy in Northern
01:17Scotland with further outbreaks of rain here. On the cool side here I think we'll struggle
01:22to see temperatures much above 15 or 16 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere we're looking at high teens
01:27so generally a touch below average for the time of year but with some sunny spells the
01:32South East could squeak up to 23 maybe 24 Celsius. There will be some late showers though
01:37across East Anglia in the South East and elsewhere the showers will only slowly fade. So if you're
01:43heading out on Saturday evening be prepared for a downpour and also be prepared for those
01:47temperatures to be dropping away. A cooler fresh start to Sunday. Many will start dry
01:53on Sunday with good spells of sunshine certainly across the East. A few showers further West
01:58and then look at that the showers just get going again as we go through the day. Again
02:02some heavy ones likely. Most likely to see a downpour over North East England and Eastern
02:08parts of Scotland on Sunday afternoon. However at the same time further West the showers
02:13fading so a good chance that Sunday afternoon will be dry for Northern Ireland. Some
02:17sunshine for the West Coast of Wales and actually the South West of England mostly dry throughout
02:22Sunday. Temperatures well again only mid to high teens generally across the North further
02:28South we might again just get over 20 degrees Celsius but only around about average for
02:32this time in July. However if you're after something drier and warmer there are some
02:38positive signs on the horizon and by on the horizon I mean out in the Atlantic because
02:42this area of high pressure is slowly toppling in and it will bring a drier week next week
02:48all the while weather fronts are dancing over the top of it bringing some cloud and showery
02:52rain to parts of Northern and Western Scotland. But for many this area of high pressure promises
02:58drier brighter and slightly warmer weather as we go through next week. For more on that
03:03and for the details throughout this weekend make sure you stay up to date by following
03:07us across social media.
