00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather updates.
00:03Signs of things turning drier, sunny and a bit warmer next week.
00:07But before that, plenty more showers to get through during the weekend and through the rest of Friday.
00:12Here's the satellite image. It is a bit of a mess, a big lump of rain moving across the northeast of Scotland.
00:18Showers following on behind.
00:20That rain will continue to affect Shetland into the afternoon and then the showers really get going across northeast England and eastern parts of Scotland during the afternoon.
00:29Further south, not as many showers as recent days, something a bit drier and brighter.
00:34Another weather system bringing more rain to Northern Ireland later in the day.
00:38So temperatures, well, they have been for much of this week, mid to high teens for many.
00:42But eastern parts of England, with a bit of sunshine dodging the showers, we could squeak into the low 20s.
00:48Through this evening, still some heavy showers over northeast England, eastern Scotland, some heavy rain for Northern Ireland.
00:54That then spreads into Scotland across northern England and eventually into parts of Wales through the early hours.
01:00Much of the Midlands, East Anglia and southeast England will stay dry overnight with some clear skies.
01:05Rural spots might drop down to nine or 10, but mostly we're looking at 11 to 13 to start the weekend.
01:11The weekend is still going to be a bit of a mess.
01:14There's this line of rain.
01:15It's a weather front that affects Yorkshire down through the Midlands and southeast Wales and southwest England.
01:21Initially, it slowly creeps eastwards, but you really get to East Anglia in the southeast till late on.
01:26So here, actually, most of the day dry and bright.
01:28Elsewhere, it'll be a case of watching the showers develop.
01:32But again, some places may not see too many parts of north Wales, northwest England, some good spells of sunshine.
01:38And once the early rain has cleared from the Midlands and southwest England, looking a bit drier here come the afternoon.
01:43Again, showers fairly plentiful across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:48And again, most places seeing temperatures a touch below average, getting into the high teens.
01:53But southeast East Anglia before that weather front arrives, 23, maybe 24 Celsius.
01:58That'll feel pretty warm in the sunny spells.
02:02Through Saturday evening, we will see that cloud thickening across East Anglia in the southeast with a few showers developing here.
02:08We'll continue with further outbreaks of rain across northern and western parts of Scotland.
02:12The showers elsewhere, though, tending to fade away as we head into Sunday.
02:16High pressure is trying to move in.
02:19We finally say goodbye to that weather front.
02:21But it's a long way away and it's only slowly trickling in.
02:25It does mean that in the southwest, Sunday looks mostly dry and fine.
02:29But further north, we're closer to this area of low pressure.
02:32And that means more showers.
02:34So again, Sunday, a mixture of sunshine and showers.
02:36Most of the showers across northern parts of the UK.
02:39We're as close as you are to that high in the southwest looking largely dry.
02:43And that high does show signs of moving in next week, bringing a drier and warmer week for many parts of the UK.
02:51More details on all of that, of course, and stay up to date across the weekend by following us on social media.
