00:00Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03A fine Friday out there for most parts of the UK.
00:06There are one or two scattered showers,
00:08but generally it's dry and bright.
00:09Still on the cool side, but there are light winds.
00:12So if you get in the sunshine, it doesn't feel all that bad.
00:16And many places certainly started the day
00:18with lots of sunshine.
00:19There is a weather front, springing a bit more cloud
00:21into the far northwest.
00:22And we have seen one or two showers
00:23through parts of Lincolnshire, drifting down
00:25to the East Midlands.
00:26And still the risk of one or two here into the early afternoon.
00:29But for most, it's dry.
00:31We are seeing a bit more cloud develop through the day.
00:33So it's not blue skies everywhere,
00:35but generally dry and bright.
00:37And most places are seeing at least a little bit of sunshine.
00:40There's that weather front, just bringing a bit more thick clouds
00:42to the far northwest of the Western Isles,
00:44seeing a bit of patchy rain.
00:45And the breeze picking up here too.
00:47But otherwise, the winds are light.
00:48So if you can get in the sunshine,
00:50temperatures are generally below average, 11 to 13.
00:53But one or two places might get to 14 or 15 Celsius.
00:57Temperatures will drop pretty quickly this evening.
01:00The cloud will tend to melt away.
01:02And with long, clear spells, yet again, we
01:04are going to see a frost forming.
01:06Cloud will stick around across the highlands of Scotland,
01:09the Western Isles, the Northern Isles.
01:11And that may keep the temperatures up here,
01:13along with that brisk breeze.
01:14But elsewhere, light winds, clear skies,
01:16maybe a bit of mist and fog.
01:17But really, the main thing will be those temperatures,
01:20yet again, falling down to or below freezing,
01:23even in towns and cities.
01:24So rural areas will again be well below,
01:27as we start the weekend.
01:29Frosty start then to Saturday.
01:31Any morning mist and fog will pretty quickly clear away.
01:34Bit more clouds still across the Northern Isles,
01:36the far north of Scotland.
01:37So any sunshine here will be fairly hazy.
01:40Some cloud will bubble up through the day,
01:42but probably not as much as through Friday.
01:44So a bit more in the way of sunshine.
01:46And again, light winds.
01:49Sun is getting stronger.
01:50So although it's still on the cool side for most places,
01:52we should see temperatures a little bit higher by Saturday.
01:55A few spots, say, across northern Scotland
01:57could get up to 15 or 16.
01:59Generally, 12 to 14 Celsius.
02:01Always a little cooler if you've got the breeze,
02:03though, coming in from the North Sea.
02:04So some of the beaches will still be a little bit fresh.
02:07Certainly, again, on Saturday night,
02:09if you're heading out, temperatures
02:10will be falling away pretty sharply.
02:12So bear that in mind.
02:13Again, it's going to be cold with a frost for many.
02:16We are seeing another line of rain
02:18just pushing into the far west.
02:19That's weather fronts, which will make some inroads
02:22during Saturday night and Sunday.
02:24High pressure hanging on for most on Sunday.
02:26But that weather fronts could bring a bit more cloud
02:28and some patchy rain for a time, of course,
02:30Northern Ireland and parts of Western Scotland,
02:33particularly the Highlands and the Western Isles.
02:35Some uncertainty about the extent of that.
02:36But certainly some patchy rain in the far northwest
02:39on Sunday.
02:39Otherwise, though, it's another fine day
02:41after what will be another frosty start.
