00:00The question arises, is there a difference between men and women in prostration?
00:04Sayyidina Anas says that the Prophet ï·º said,
00:07Keep your limbs equal in prostration,
00:10whoever among you,
00:12that is, whoever among you,
00:14whether a man or a woman,
00:15should not spread his arms like a dog.
00:17How does a dog spread his arms?
00:19He puts his arms on the ground like this.
00:21Like in prostration,
00:22if the arms are put on the ground like this,
00:24Allah's Messenger has forbidden this.
00:26When we prostrate,
00:28people put their arms like this,
00:29that prostration is like this for women.
00:31Allah's Messenger has not taught this method invented by himself.
00:37Sayyidina Anas bin Malik narrates from the Prophet ï·º that
00:41the Prophet ï·º said,
00:42Keep your limbs equal in prostration,
00:43whoever among you,
00:44that is, whoever among you,
00:45whether a man or a woman,
00:46should not spread his arms like a dog.
00:49Whoever among you,
00:51should not spread his arms on the ground.
00:54So how are the arms spread while prostrating?
00:57You can imagine the prostration.
01:00Then how did the Prophet ï·º prostrate?
01:02When you yourself acquire first-hand knowledge,
01:06when you read the hadith of Allah's Messenger ï·º,
01:09then no one's disagreement will affect you.
01:12Because Allah has made our Prophet ï·º an example for us.
01:17May Allah enable us to follow him.
01:20Sayyidina Abdullah bin Malik narrates that
01:23when the Prophet ï·º used to pray,
01:25he used to keep his arms equal in prostration.
01:28To the extent that the whiteness of his limbs was visible.
01:32By arms, I mean the arms around his shoulders.
01:35When he used to go in prostration,
01:37this part was so open that it could be seen up to his limbs.
01:42So the Prophet ï·º used to spread his arms and prostrate.
01:46When the Prophet ï·º used to prostrate,
01:48even if a baby goat wanted to pass under his arms,
01:51it would pass.
01:52Even if a baby goat wanted to pass under his arms,
01:55it would pass.
01:56Hazrat Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib narrates that
01:59when the Prophet ï·º used to prostrate,
02:02he used to spread his arms and prostrate.
02:04His face, his arms, his knees and his legs.
02:07It is narrated in Abu Dawood's 891.
02:10Hazrat Ibn Umar narrates that
02:13he used to spread his arms as if his face was in prostration.
02:16His arms were on the ground.
02:18He used to spread his arms.
02:20On which side are the fingers of the hands?
02:22On the side of the Qibla.
02:24Then look at the fingers of the feet.
02:26On which side are the fingers of the feet?
02:28On the side of the Qibla.
02:29But when the feet are pulled to one side,
02:32on which side are they?
02:35Then it is not on the side of the Qibla.
02:37Then it is not prostration.
