00:00I've been running a faceless YouTube channel for over 2 years, getting millions of views,
00:04until I realized that I've been doing it all wrong.
00:06There's a way to achieve these results in just a few months.
00:09Let me explain.
00:12So the channel I'm talking about is called Zio,
00:14where I make short and long form videos about Marvel movies.
00:17In this video, I'll focus on the short form content,
00:20how you can get similar views as quickly as possible,
00:22and show you the exact method I use to make them go viral.
00:30Treat your channel as a brand.
00:31Decide what fonts and colors you'll use,
00:33and keep them consistent throughout your channel.
00:35To get started, you're gonna need a logo and a banner.
00:38You can make them in any photo editor you want.
00:40Or if you're not a good designer, you can make one using Mid Journey, like I did.
00:48If you're posting randomly without choosing a clear topic,
00:50sorry, but you can't succeed on this platform.
00:53So pick a niche you want.
00:54Make sure there's people out there who want to watch content from that niche.
00:57You can ask ChatGPT to give you a list of the most popular niches on YouTube.
01:01Or go to Wikipedia, search for list of hobbies,
01:04and pick one that you're interested in.
01:05Then jump straight into step three.
01:10You need to analyze other big channels in your niche
01:12and see which type of content is doing well recently.
01:15I did the same when I started out my channel
01:17and saw facts about movies doing pretty well in my niche.
01:19You probably saw at least one video like this.
01:22Did you know in Avengers Endgame?
01:23Do you know that in Spider-Man?
01:25Did you know in Thorlof and Thunder?
01:26So I found a bunch of interesting facts
01:28and explained them as simply as I could in my videos.
01:31One thing I strongly recommend is don't overthink it.
01:33Spend as little time as you can on making each video,
01:36especially when you're first starting out.
01:38You're gonna have a lot of time to improve your content.
01:40But when you're in the beginning,
01:41just publish your first video as soon as you can.
01:43Get comfortable making that style of content.
01:45Then choose one side of the video to improve next time.
01:48For example, focus on making better transitions in the next five videos.
01:52Then better subtitles, better coloring, better sound effects, and so on.
01:55It will definitely increase your video quality
01:57instead of trying to make everything perfect.
01:59Back to the channel.
01:59After publishing consistently for about three weeks,
02:02I made my first viral video.
02:09After publishing around 10 shorts or so,
02:11you need to go back and analyze data.
02:12See which videos are doing well and which doesn't.
02:14This step may be a bit boring for some of you,
02:16but it's definitely the most crucial one.
02:18So don't skip that.
02:19And the only important metrics you should check for YouTube shorts
02:22are view count, retention, and swipe rate.
02:24But more importantly, just re-watch your most viewed videos
02:27and try to understand what makes them different from the rest.
02:29Write them down in a viral recipe list.
02:31And you can either try to tick as many boxes as you can in your next shorts
02:35or choose a few for each video and implement them one by one.
02:38I made that list for my viral short.
02:40It saw the subtitles were shorter,
02:41the scene was changing faster,
02:43and I made a joke at the end that wasn't funny.
02:46Anyways, I used this list for my next videos
02:48and I got two more viral shorts at the end of that month.
02:50So in December 2022, I finally got monetized.
03:00What worked in the past may no longer work today.
03:03After replicating the same formula for the next month,
03:06I realized the formula is not working anymore.
03:08Even though it was monetized,
03:09the channel's ad revenue was less than $20 a month.
03:13Obviously, things weren't looking good.
03:14Even though I used the same techniques,
03:16the views were getting lower in each video.
03:18If you came across that hitch on your channel too,
03:20it's the sign showing the golden formula is broken or needs a revision.
03:23You need to repeat step 3 and 4 and add new points to your viral recipe list.
03:27And when I did it again,
03:28this time I saw better performing videos had a sound effect in the beginning like this.
03:33Some type of graphic that takes attention.
03:35And most of them didn't have a voiceover.
03:37They were just cool edits of recent movies.
03:39Even though I was a bit suspicious,
03:41since it was easier to make this type of content,
03:43I made more of them.
03:44And they did really well.
03:45The channel was getting more and more traction every day.
03:47The ad revenue went from $20 to over $150 that month.
03:51Everything was great.
03:52I was sure it would easily turn into thousands of dollars in a few months.
03:55Until one day I got an email from YouTube.
04:00It said,
04:00Some of your videos have been taken down.
04:02Due to a copyright notice,
04:03we had to take down the following three videos from YouTube.
04:06So basically, my three edits about the movie Spider-Verse
04:10has been taken down by Sony.
04:11And my channel got a copyright strike.
04:13But that's not the worst part.
04:15A few hours after that,
04:16my channel got demonetized because of reused content.
04:19It turns out, my edits weren't edited enough to meet the fair use.
04:22It was just the worst thing that could ever happen
04:24after the channel was starting to take off.
04:27But that didn't stop me from posting.
04:29I now went back to adding voiceovers to my videos.
04:31Repeated step 3 and 4 again to make my formula even better.
04:35And will reapply the YouTube Partner Program in a few weeks.
04:39So if there's one principle you need to use on your channel after this video,
04:42it's determination.
04:44No matter how challenging it is,
04:45just learn from each experience and try to improve.
04:48Find solutions.
04:49And don't lose your motivation.
