00:00From crystal highchairs and solid gold cribs to diamond Barbies and teams of nannies, the
00:06Carters spare no expense when it comes to their kids.
00:09Beyoncé and Jay-Z's first child, Blue Ivy Carter, was born into the lap of luxury. Rumor
00:14has it she rode around in high style from the get-go, cruising in a diamond-covered
00:18stroller allegedly worth $50,000.
00:20"...their baby girl, Blue Ivy, was one of the hottest topics on Twitter within hours
00:26of her birth."
00:27An insider reported that, shortly after arriving on the planet, Blue Ivy Carter already had
00:31$1.5 million worth of possessions, including a $600,000 gold rocking horse.
00:37Supposedly, Blue also enjoyed her meals of baby food in a Swarovski crystal highchair
00:42worth over $10,000. The Evening Standard newspaper reported that Beyoncé and Jay-Z also sent
00:47one of these highchairs to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West when they couldn't attend the
00:51reality star's baby shower.
00:52Blue Ivy undoubtedly received a host of gifts from the rich and famous for her first birthday
00:56as well, but none was more extravagant than the $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll
01:01her parents gave her. As she's gotten older, her inclination for expensive possessions
01:05has only grown stronger. According to Page Six, in 2022, when she was 10, Blue Ivy bid
01:11over $80,000 on a pair of diamond earrings at an auction. Her grandmother, Tina Knowles,
01:16was modeling the earrings onstage for the auction, and her granddaughter was encouraged
01:20to make a bid by her parents. Sadly, Blue Ivy didn't ultimately win. The final bid was
01:25$105,000.
01:28Beyoncé gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir in June 2017. Not to be outdone by their older
01:33sister, these babies were pampered and showered with expensive gifts immediately. Naturally,
01:38a common plastic pacifier wasn't going to make the cut. Instead, Beyoncé and Jay-Z
01:42splurged on some that would fit their lifestyle. As reported by an anonymous source to Life
01:46& Style magazine,
01:47"...Jay fell in love with $2.5 million bejeweled pacifiers and a three-carat diamond pacifier
01:53set in 18-carat white gold."
01:56The parents also reportedly purchased a pair of $3,600 Versace strollers and $1,200 Burberry
02:02diaper bags in preparation for the birth of the twins. According to Life & Style, Rumi
02:06and Sir were living the most lavish lives possible as babies, with a nursery setup alleged
02:11to be worth around $10 million.
02:13As any new parent will likely agree, it can be hard to hold back on cute goodies when
02:17you're blissed out on the joy of a newborn. Sure, most parents don't drop a few million
02:21in doing so, but still, the couple seemed eager to enjoy the formative years of their
02:25twins. During a 2018 appearance on The Van Jones Show, Jay-Z joked,
02:30"...We are in a beautiful time now because they are seven months old and they can't move.
02:34We are going to enjoy these couple of months until they start running, and then it's over."
02:39For Beyoncé and Jay-Z, expecting twins meant doubling the size — and the price — of
02:43expecting parent expenses. According to Life & Style magazine, they created the newborn's
02:48new room by tearing down a wall in their home and making two rooms into one large,
02:52out-of-this-world nursery. The nursery reportedly included a $50,000 sound system, walk-in closets,
02:58a fireplace, and a movie theater — not to mention some very impressive decorations.
03:03As reported in Life & Style,
03:05"...Beyoncé commissioned a $20,000 mural on the ceiling, complete with glowing stars.
03:09It's incredible. It's the entire galaxy above the nursery."
03:13It was also rumored that the couple spent a whopping $50,000 on a pair of 18-carat gold
03:17cribs made by Suomo. Each crib comes equipped with an eco-friendly mattress and champagne
03:23silk bedding. But given that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are such hands-on parents who like spending
03:27as much time with the children as possible, they probably enjoyed the space just as much
03:31as the kiddos did. During a 2013 appearance on Anderson Cooper 360, Beyoncé told the
03:37host that she and Jay-Z adored being parents, and even shared diaper duties.
03:41I love changing diapers. I love it. I just, I love every moment of it. It's so beautiful,
03:47and it just —
03:48You love changing diapers?
03:49I really do."
03:50The singer also revealed her love of singing nursery rhymes to her children, saying,
03:53"...I make up a lot of crazy, corny songs."
03:56With Beyoncé for a mom, is it any surprise that Blue Ivy Carter is always dressed to
04:00the nines in designer suits and couture gowns? Of course, her stylist, Manuel Mendez, who
04:06has been helping her pick out her looks since she was born, has a lot to do with that. He
04:10was already working for Beyoncé as a wardrobe assistant when he landed the job, telling
04:14the Be Latina blog that since the singer liked his style, he organically became her stylist.
04:19With the help of Mendez, the eldest Carter child has taken a particular fancy to the
04:23luxury Italian fashion house Gucci. According to Teen Vogue, she once wore a Gucci kids'
04:28dress to a basketball game, pairing it with a denim jacket and Converse. At five years
04:33old, she wore an impeccably tailored pink Gucci suit to the 2017 Grammys. She also wore
04:37a tiny version of a $26,000 dress from the fashion house's 2016 autumn collection to
04:42the premiere of Beauty and the Beast. In 2016, attending the VMAs with her mom, Blue went
04:48full princess mode, wearing an $11,000 dress with $565 sneakers. But that price tag was
04:54a pittance compared to the $20 million worth of jewelry that her mom was rocking that night.
04:59You may remember the diamond Barbie doll that Blue Ivy Carter received for her first birthday,
05:04but we haven't gone into the extravagance of the party itself. It was an event to be
05:07remembered, despite the fact Blue probably wouldn't remember it. When it was all over,
05:12it reportedly cost $200,000 to make it all happen. While $30,000 was spent on dress-up
05:17items and toys for the party guests, $95,000 was apparently spent on an arrangement of
05:22pink and white roses. The cake alone was said to have been worth $2,400, as reported by
05:28an anonymous source to The Sun.
05:30She wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life. For her second
05:34birthday, TMZ reported that Beyonce and Jay-Z rented out an entire zoo in Miami for the
05:38event. And Blue Ivy's fairy party in 2016 was even more luxurious, with actresses hired
05:44to play princesses, fairy wings for all of the guests, large tents, delicious goodies,
05:49and an archery station.
05:50While the couple has been a bit more private regarding celebrations for twins Rumi and
05:54Sir, Beyonce did share photos from their second birthday in a video recap of 2019 on Instagram.
05:59The party looked to be Baby Shark-themed.
06:01Have you heard of Baby Shark-do-do-do-do-do?"
06:07It also appeared to take place at an outdoor venue, complete with large cardboard cutouts
06:11and loads of balloons and cake. No doubt Rumi and Sir get the same royal birthday treatment
06:15as their sister has in the past.
06:18With jet-setting famous parents like Beyonce and Jay-Z, it isn't surprising that the Carter
06:21kids are world travelers as well. Not only do they occasionally travel with their parents
06:26for their work obligations, but they also go on luxurious family vacations. In 2015,
06:31for instance, Blue Ivy Carter got to explore Italy, riding carousels in Florence, roaming
06:36the countryside, and eating plenty of pizza and gelato.
06:39According to the Daily Mail, the family rented a luxury yacht to sail around the Mediterranean
06:43Sea, stopping in Naples, Capri, and Sardinia along the way, at a rate of $900,000 a week.
06:49One year later, on Instagram, Beyonce shared a photo montage of herself and Blue Ivy dancing
06:54together in Paris, along with holiday snaps from a Hawaiian family vacation.
06:59For Beyonce's visual album, The Lion King, The Gift, the whole family, including the
07:03twins, traveled throughout Africa. The pop superstar explained the significance of the
07:07family's sojourn during the ABC documentary about the project, called Making the Gift.
07:12"'Visiting countries in Africa, it's always an emotional experience for me. It feels like
07:16I'm making peace with a part of me that's yearning for my ancestral connection. I was
07:21blessed to be able to relive some of the experiences that I've been very fortunate
07:24to have over the years with my entire family."
07:28It's safe to say that the Carter children are growing up in some of the most luxurious
07:31spaces imaginable. Since Beyonce and Jay-Z have been married, they have owned numerous
07:35properties, from Manhattan to New Orleans, but in recent years, the family's home base
07:40is located in Bel Air, California. A full-blown mansion purchased in 2017, the house is thought
07:45to be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $88 million, and reportedly includes six
07:50buildings, eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four swimming pools, a spa, a 15-car garage,
07:55staff quarters, a movie theater, and a basketball court.
07:58And they have another property in the Hamptons.
08:00"'100 miles east of New York City, you'll find some of the most expensive homes in the
08:05country.'"
08:06Compared to the Bel Air mansion, the $26 million Hampton spot is a tad smaller, though still
08:11likely far bigger than the average abode. This summer getaway has a pond, seven bedrooms,
08:16and seven-and-a-half baths. It's also decorated with lavish details, like Italian marble
08:21and hand-milled woodwork, throughout the property.
08:24For anyone fantasizing about scoring an invite anytime soon, the Hamptons' retreat also boasts
08:29a 1,800-square-foot guest house. We can dream, right?
08:34For Beyonce and Jay-Z, being two of the biggest performers in the world and making millions
08:38doesn't leave much free time. Luckily, the couple has a ton of staff to help with the
08:42children. According to Entertainment Tonight, the kids have a team of nannies working for
08:46them around the clock.
08:47"'Let's see what I'm in for this week.'"
08:50OK! magazine quoted an anonymous source stating that the couple hired a total of six staffers
08:55to help take care of the twins, each one receiving a $100,000 salary. According to OK!, the twins
09:01don't sleep at the same time, so she decided she needs three per child, working in eight-hour
09:06shifts.
09:07And what do the kids eat? Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir have their own chef, who makes them
09:11specially prepared kid favorites. According to the Daily Mail, Blue Ivy especially likes
09:16ballerina-shaped pasta and pureed asparagus, meals tailored to her finicky tastes. The
09:21outlet also claims that the Carters employ full-time security for their children. Being
09:25in the spotlight as much as they are, who could blame them? In short, the kids have
09:30everything they could possibly ever need on hand at all times.
