00:00Former President Donald Trump is weighing in on the new film about him titled The Apprentice,
00:04calling it fake and classless.
00:07The biopic follows Trump's early years as he rose to prominence and became a real estate
00:11tycoon in the 1980s.
00:13The feature film opened in roughly 1,700 theaters nationwide and made just $1.6 million in its
00:19first weekend.
00:20Trump lashed out against the movie on Monday.
00:22He wrote on his social media platform Truth Social,
00:25A fake and classless movie written about me called The Apprentice, do they even have the
00:30right to use that name without approval, will hopefully bomb.
00:33It's a cheap, defamatory, and politically disgusting hatchet job, put out right before
00:37the 2024 presidential election, to try and hurt the greatest political movement in the
00:42history of our country, make America great again.
00:45In the two-hour feature, Sebastian Stan portrays Trump as he's mentored by Roy Cohn, portrayed
00:50by Jeremy Strong, revealing how Cohn shaped the Trump people know today.
00:54The film also shows Stan's Trump falling in love with his first wife, Ivana, and includes
00:59a controversial scene of Trump raping Ivana, which she claimed during their divorce proceedings
01:04but later recanted.
01:05Trump also wrote,
01:06My former wife, Ivana, was a kind and wonderful person, and I had a great relationship with
01:11her until the day she died.
01:13The writer of this pile of garbage, Gabe Sherman, a low-life and talentless hack who has long
01:18been widely discredited, knew that, but chose to ignore it.
01:21So sad that human scum, like the people involved in this hopefully unsuccessful enterprise,
01:26are allowed to say and do whatever they want in order to hurt a political movement, which
01:30is far bigger than any of us.
01:31MAGA 2024.
01:32Trump's camp had been pushing to stop the release of the film for months after it premiered
01:37at the Cannes Film Festival.
01:38In May, a cease and desist letter was sent from Trump's attorney to the film's director
01:42and its screenwriter.
