00:00Electric SUVs soon will reach a considerable portion of all new cars being sold in America.
00:07With that being said, many car manufacturers are doubling down on bringing their best electric
00:12SUVs to the market.
00:14While Tesla is still going very strong with its best-seller Model Y SUV, here are the
00:19best electric SUVs that are going to compete with Tesla in 2023.
00:26Fisker Ocean Electric SUVs are becoming increasingly popular,
00:32and Fisker Automotive intends to capitalize on this trend with its new Ocean SUV.
00:37The base trim model will have a range of 250 miles, according to predictions.
00:43When fitted with an all-wheel drive, dual-motor system, it may achieve speeds of up to 60
00:47mph in less than 4 seconds.
00:50On a single charge, the most powerful model is expected to go 350 km, according to estimates.
00:57Besides being a gorgeous SUV akin to the Range Rover Evoque in design, the Fisker Ocean for
01:032023 also offers a few unique features.
01:07A 17.1-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard can be rotated both vertically and
01:12horizontally, and the back glass can be opened to give a windswept inside, creating the illusion
01:17of a convertible.
01:19But only time will tell if the Ocean's range ratings, performance claims, and parlor
01:23tricks will be enough to entice Tesla-obsessed people to purchase the vehicle.
01:28According to Fisker's early pricing announcements for the whole Ocean line, the basic Ocean
01:33model is expected to cost around $40,000 when completed.
01:38Toyota BZ-4X To be released in 2023, Toyota's BZ-4X crossover
01:45vehicle will be a stylistic departure from the company's gasoline-powered SUVs, and
01:50it will represent the company's return to the electric vehicle category.
01:55With the front-wheel-drive configuration, Toyota anticipates an all-electric vehicle
01:59with a range of up to 250 miles on a single charge.
02:03A more powerful twin-motor in the all-wheel-drive variant, which is available as an option,
02:07should limit the vehicle's range.
02:09However, Toyota has not supplied any details on that particular model.
02:14The BZ-4X will be equipped with fast charging as standard, and Toyota promises that the
02:19solar panels integrated into the car will generate enough energy to allow the vehicle
02:23to go around 1,000 miles each year.
02:26An all-wheel-drive system with a single electric motor produces 201 horsepower, but an all-wheel-drive
02:32system with two electric motors produces 215 horsepower, bringing the total possible power
02:37to 215 horsepower.
02:39Toyota claims that an all-wheel-drive variant can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds.
02:47According to our estimations, the base price of the BZ-4X will be somewhere in the mid-$30,000
02:52range, with the most premium models costing more than $40,000.
02:59Volkswagen ID.5
03:02This electric vehicle will be a game-changer for Volkswagen.
03:06It will only be available with the largest battery pack offered in the Volkswagen brand,
03:10a 77 kWh unit with a range of up to 313 miles.
03:16With a rapid charger and a maximum recharge capability of 135 kW, the ID.5 can be charged
03:22up to 80% in 29 minutes and be fully operational in 30 minutes.
03:27There are three different power levels to select, from 171 hp, 201 hp, and 294 hp GTX,
03:35which is the most powerful of the three.
03:38The 171 bhp ID.5 Pro can go from 0 to 60 mph to 99 mph in 10.4 seconds, and its battery
03:48can provide a range of 313 miles between charges.
03:52The 201 bhp Pro Performance has 201 bhp, which allows it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds
04:00and reach a top speed of 99 mph.
04:03This 294 hp car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.
04:09It can reach a top speed of 112 mph.
04:13Even though it has greater power, it has a shorter range than the smaller versions, with
04:16a total range of 296 miles, which is 17 miles fewer than the lesser variants.
04:23This SUV will be available for purchase for a starting price of $67,000.
04:29Chevrolet Equinox EV
04:32The all-electric Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV will be on sale in the fall of 2023, replacing
04:38the current gasoline-powered model.
04:41The first photographs of this new vehicle reveal its elegant design and futuristic interior,
04:46which contrasts sharply with the pleasant gas-powered Equinox.
04:50Chevrolet claims that it will have LT and RS versions available for purchase.
04:55The GM Ultium battery will be used in the Equinox EV, which is all we know about it
05:00mechanically.
05:01There are no official details on the battery's capacity or expected driving range, but we
05:06believe it'll need to be about 300 miles to compete in the current EV crossover market.
05:12The Equinox EV in particular has an appealing appearance, with a narrow top-light strip
05:17up front and two lights below in a closed-off maw that resembles a grill.
05:22The front fenders are flared and the rear haunches are broad, giving it an athletic
05:26attitude.
05:27The abrupt back roofline sets it apart from the usual crossover.
05:31According to its estimates, the Chevrolet Equinox EV is projected to have a starting
05:36price of around $30,000.
05:40Porsche Macan EV As of 2016, the Macan SUV has been Porsche's
05:46best-selling car, and a new all-electric variant is scheduled for the 2024 model year.
05:52The 2024 Macan EV will be based on a new electric platform that will also underlie the Audi
05:57e-tron.
05:58At this point, very little information is available regarding the Macan EV's capabilities,
06:04although Porsche has stated that it would have a substantially greater range on a single
06:08charge than the Taycan, the brand's current electric sedan, which now tops out at 227
06:14miles.
06:15Taking use of the Taycan's 800-volt electrical design should result in quick charging times.
06:21A more powerful S variant and a top-of-the-line GTS model are expected to be available for
06:26the Macan electric vehicle, and initially, the 2023 Macan EV will be available alongside
06:32the gasoline-powered Macan.
06:35The Porsche Macan EV is expected to start at roughly $80,000, making it less expensive
06:40than Porsche's flagship electric vehicle, the Taycan.
06:45VinFast VF8 When the VF8 was still in development in 2021,
06:51the electric SUV made its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show under the name of
06:56the VF E35.
06:59This Vietnamese electric SUV, previously known as the VF E35, has been rebranded and is scheduled
07:06to arrive in the United States in December of 2023.
07:10It is the less costly of two new all-electric SUVs going to the United States, both of which
07:15are funded by Vingroup, Vietnam's largest corporation.
07:20As the firm had released, the two-row VF8 will be powered by a dual-motor setup with
07:25a combined output of 400-plus horsepower, one on each axle.
07:30And if this is the case, the VF8 will have a substantial edge over rival electric vehicles
07:35in its price range, according to the company.
07:39VinFast promises that it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, and regarding
07:45the vehicle's range, VinFast says the twin-motor VF8 can drive 317 miles on a single charge,
07:52albeit this is only according to European standards, not American ones.
07:57According to current estimates, the VinFast VF8 will have a starting price of around $41,000
08:03in 2023 when it goes on sale.
08:07Honda Prologue Honda is about to enter a new age of electric
08:12automobiles, and it all begins with the 2024 Honda Prologue SUV, a totally electric vehicle
08:18that offers adaptability and a driving range on par with the company's current SUV portfolio.
08:24Prologue, a new electric car from Honda, will be unveiled for the 2024 model year as a result
08:30of a new relationship with General Motors.
08:33And although Honda hasn't revealed much about the car, it's assumed that the Prologue will
08:38be a compact to mid-size SUV.
08:41If the Lyric's 100 kWh battery is used in the Prologue, then a 300 mile range is to
08:46be expected.
08:48Even though GM will design the base and powertrains, Honda will build the Prologue's body and
08:53interior.
08:54The Acura luxury brand is likely to provide a Prologue variant as well, although no specifications
09:00have been announced as of this writing.
09:03The Prologue's pricing and trim levels haven't been revealed by Honda yet, but we estimate
09:07the new model will begin at $45,000 and rise from there.
09:13Nissan Ariya
09:16The all-electric Ariya SUV, which will be available for purchase in the United States
09:20in the fall of 2023, is a fresh addition to the company's electric vehicle roster.
09:27The Ariya will be available in Nissan showrooms alongside the LEAF hatchback and will have
09:31a driving range of up to 300 miles, which is significantly longer than the LEAF's maximum
09:36range of 226 miles.
09:39Ariya's design is a change from Nissan's previous harsh, angular aesthetics, which
09:44it replaces.
09:46While the Ariya's low, broad stance separates it from its counterpart, the Rogue, the Ariya
09:51has a sportier look.
09:53Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are also options, as is a choice between two different
09:57battery sizes, a 63 kWh basic battery and an optional 87 kWh battery pack.
10:05All-wheel drive is the standard configuration, while an all-wheel drive is an option.
10:09These characteristics will enable Ariya to compete with electric crossovers such as the
10:13Tesla Model Y and the Hyundai Kona Electric in the market for electric vehicles.
10:19Driver assistance features, information technology, and comfort features are just a few of the
10:23options available.
10:25While the starting price of the Ariya is more than that of the LEAF and other low-cost electric
10:29vehicles, it is estimated to be lower than that of the Tesla Model Y's base price of
10:34$47,125.
10:38Lexus RZ450E The RZ450E, Lexus's first electric car built
10:45from the ground up, is nearing production.
10:48Several new images of the SUV have been released by the manufacturer ahead of its debut, when
10:53it is expected to compete with the Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4.
10:58The Lexus RZ is built on the same e-TNGA platform as its BZ4X sister, therefore it will have
11:05the same 71.4 kWh battery pack and dual-motor drivetrain.
11:11For a 0-62mph speed of 7.7 seconds and an all-electric driving range of up to 280 miles,
11:18the Toyota's system delivers 215hp and 336Nm of torque.
11:24Additionally, the RZ will feature Direct4, a four-wheel drive system that continually
11:29analyzes and changes the driving power to the wheels in response to throttle and steering
11:34inputs, as well as the road conditions.
11:37Although Lexus hasn't officially announced the RZ's beginning price yet, based on its
11:41length and similarity to its hybrid RX, we can expect the new model to be priced at the
11:47upper end of the company's SUV range, starting at least $50,000.
11:53Kia EV9 According to a press release posted on Kia's
11:58website, the EV9 SUV will go into production in Europe in 2023, making it the first market
12:05to get it.
12:06The EV9 concept is a three-row, all-electric SUV that is around the same size and shape
12:12as the Kia Telluride in terms of overall size and shape.
12:16Given that the Hyundai Ioniq 7 was also launched last year, we were previously aware that it
12:22would share many characteristics with this vehicle.
12:25In addition, the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are both constructed on an enlarged version
12:31of the e-GMP platform, which will be utilized in both Kia and Hyundai's big electric SUVs
12:37in the near future.
12:39As reported by Kia, the electric vehicle EV9 will have a maximum charging rate of 350kW
12:46and a range that is upwards of 300 miles from a single charge.
12:50At this moment, we can only speculate, but we anticipate the US version will be ready
12:54in 2024 and will have a starting price of around $50,000.
