00:00The crafty vet still has it as Braden Roy Voll with a split decision win over Tatsuro
00:15Taira.
00:1647-48 and 48-47 times two gives him the split decision win.
00:22Also Park Yeon-young with a split decision win over Brad Tavares.
00:27And so what do we take from this?
00:30Brandon Roy Voll is still, I mean, by the hair on his chinny chin chin, which I guess
00:37for me is a bit, but for him to be able to come out and outpoint Taira and get a victory
00:44there shows that I think that there is, I think rumors of his demise were a little bit
00:49exaggerated and people just assuming that this young kid was going to come in and just
00:53blow right through him, I just, I simply didn't believe that.
00:56So he still has something there in the tank.
01:00And I still think championship caliber fighter, maybe, maybe not, but high level fighter in
01:05the flyweight division right now that is still kind of developing.
01:08Yeah, I think he can be that.
01:11And for Park Yeon-young, it's a win.
01:13Brad Tavares has done a lot of losing and he has been finished in a lot of different
01:18spots.
01:19And so again, to lose by split or to win by split decision and to not necessarily have
01:23that real big impactful moment, it just kind of feels like there were opportunities there
01:30for these young fighters this weekend to go out and kind of take the headlines, take that
01:34spotlight and really, um, drive home that, no, I'm, I'm someone to be watched in this
01:40next run here, this next year for the UFC.
01:44And instead they're just like, well, it's a win.
01:46Oh, it's a close loss.
01:47It is what it is.
01:48Um, that that's not, I don't think what these guys, well, obviously it's not what they wanted.
01:52And I think that this does kind of, um, I don't think there's like a bigger picture
01:58thing here or anything like that.
01:59It's a good win for Roy Voll.
02:01Does it get him into title contention?
02:02I don't think so.
02:04It's a good win for Park Yeon-young.
02:06Does it get him into even, I think, top 15 consideration?
02:09Probably not.
02:10And at 33, like, it kind of just has to start going now for him.
02:15But it's a win coming off of a split decision loss, his first fight of the year.
02:19So that that does kind of get you back on track a little bit for him.
02:23And now it's kind of onward and upward.
02:24So maybe that was just it all along.
02:26It was just get in the cage, get some fights in, and start to progress here a little bit
02:31and start to really push this thing forward in the middleweight division.
02:34But it was, like I said, I feel like this weekend was a little bit more, um, a little
02:40bit more about missed opportunities than, oh, wow, this guy came out and really did
02:43the damn thing.
02:44Coming up this weekend, it is Anthony Hernandez taking on Michel Pereira.
02:50You have Hernandez, who is 30 years old.
02:52He is coming off of a pretty good run here.
02:55He beat Roman Koppelov by submission at the beginning part of the year.
02:59He has won five fights in a row.
03:02Taking on Pereira, who has certainly been polarizing, was in the beginning part of his
03:08career, came out, did a whole lot of dancing, a whole lot of a shtick, and then did a whole
03:11lot of losing.
03:13But since then, he has come out, he's won eight fights in a row, and so you have a couple
03:17of really intriguing fighters in the middleweight division stepping up.
03:20And then you have Rob Font fighting in the bantamweight division.
03:23Font is still, I think, a exciting fighter, but the results haven't been there.
03:28Now, the results haven't been there against Figueiredo, Sanhagen, Marlon Vera, and Jose
03:33Aldo.
03:34Tough to get those results.
03:35And so, it is just a question of how far has he fallen, and where does Kyler Phillips rank?
03:41At 29 years old, Phillips has won three fights in a row, and coming off of a win over Pedro
03:45Munoz, this is a good kind of next step for him.
03:48So, a couple intriguing fights on the UFC card this week.
03:52Uh, alright, that is going to do it for the combat sports talk, I think we covered everything.
