00:00We spent lots of time yesterday on the news that Mike Tomlin was going to give Russell
00:08Wilson the starters reps this week at practice.
00:12I saw a bunch of reporters say today that, at least in the media portion, Wilson took
00:16all of the first team reps while they were out there.
00:21Here is Tomlin talking about the quarterbacks.
00:22The adjustment has been really good, and we've been really good at times, but not to be confused
00:28with great.
00:29Man, this is a competitive league, man.
00:33We're trying to position ourselves to be that team, and we've got a player with talent who
00:37hadn't had an opportunity to play, so we're going to potentially explore those things.
00:42Sometimes it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what Justin has done or has not
00:46done.
00:47Justin has been an asset to us, man.
00:50Last week, for example, man, his ability to utilize his legs by design and by ad lib was
00:55a significant component of that game.
00:58He rushed the 50-plus yards and two touchdowns in game, and so we're appreciative of that.
01:04We're appreciative of how he's taking care of the ball, but we're just looking at all
01:08the people at our disposal the same way that we do at any position.
01:12I got to tell you, I think it's a rake on his confidence that this guy has 10 touchdowns,
01:19one pick, and one interception, and he's getting benched, and he's four and two, and he's getting
01:27benched for a guy that hasn't played in a year.
01:30Honestly, it makes no sense to me whatsoever.
01:34Listen, I think this guy has been so far removed from Seattle, the Russell Wilson that everyone
01:43knew that went to those Super Bowls.
01:45He's so far from that player, it's not even funny to me, so I got a problem with the decision.
01:51I just don't think it's a sound move at all, but I don't run the Steelers.
01:58In fact, you sent me this earlier, and I thought I would show it to you.
02:01That is, of course, the field's numbers compared to C.J. Stroud, who everybody, you know, he's
02:08the greatest thing since sliced bread in the NFL now when it comes to quarterback play.
02:13Obviously, a couple hundred less total yards, completion percentage 66 to 68, same number
02:19of total touchdowns.
02:21People will say, well, field just has a lot of running ones, not throwing, less interceptions,
02:25and just a shade under him with the passer rating, fields versus Stroud numbers.
02:30Numbers are almost identical, and what is the difference between a passing Tuddy and
02:35a rushing Tuddy on the SAT exam, and that answer is C, nothing.
02:44They all count as six points the last time I checked.
02:48They do all count as six.
02:49It's ridiculous.
02:50Like, a guy scores a touchdown, but you want him to throw it?
02:54That makes more sense to you?
02:55That works better for you?
02:57Well, then have at it.
02:58I need a guy in the end zone either or, OK, either or.
03:02They won the game in Vegas because of fields.
03:05That was it.
03:06I know they give credit to T.J. Watt for every win that the Steelers have, and I don't deny
03:11that he punched out two balls, and it was, to me, it was fields and Watt.
03:17You got to have guys on defense that make plays, and Watt's that guy.
03:20You have to have someone on offense make plays.
03:23Fields was that guy, and then you bench him, and you know what that means?
03:28Don't tell me that's going over well with fields.
03:30When my man's got his beats on and he's driving home from practice, that I'm getting sat down
03:36for winning and for excelling and for exceedingly well performances.
03:41I mean, the guy has produced, and they're benching him.
03:45It's beyond me.
03:47It really is.
03:48I've never seen anything like it.
03:49I only sit guys down when they're losing or playing bad.
03:52I never sit a guy down that's winning.
