00:07When you first read the script, what drew you in?
00:10I was really drawn in by this world.
00:13I mean, the premise alone is so interesting,
00:17so high stakes.
00:18You know, a medical team on a cruise ship.
00:21I, you know, was imagining this sort of mixture
00:23between house and triangle of sadness
00:26in terms of how it was described to me.
00:29And that felt really exciting.
00:31So I, yeah, I was immediately drawn in.
00:33Have you watched Below Deck?
00:34It kind of gives me those vibes too.
00:36People have told me this, and honestly, I have not,
00:38but I now I should watch it
00:39because everybody brings that up
00:41when I talk to them about the show, yeah.
00:43You play Avery Morgan,
00:44a very confident RN aboard this luxury cruise ship,
00:47and lots of drama, wackiness,
00:49everything else in between ensues.
00:51Would you ever go on a cruise after working on this show?
00:54Well, I mean, yeah.
00:56I mean, I almost been on a couple of cruises
00:59and, you know, my schedule didn't allow me
01:01to actually make that happen,
01:02but yeah, I would totally go on a cruise.
01:04And especially if it's like the Odyssey,
01:06although I don't want to have to deal
01:08with as many medical emergencies as we're dealing with.
01:11Like, I would hope that I would go on a cruise
01:13and everyone's like safe and happy
01:14and like nothing goes wrong,
01:17but for the sake of our show and how exciting it is,
01:20you know, it's great.
01:21All of these medical things that are happening every week,
01:23it's really fun and exciting.
01:25What's your personal weirdest element
01:27you've had to fix on the cruise thus far?
01:29Well, if the first episode is a testament
01:33to how far we're gonna go with this kind of stuff,
01:37I'll let that, you know, lead your imagination
01:39to wherever you want it to go.
01:41So without giving too much away,
01:43I'll just say it only gets more exciting from here, folks.
01:48Do you have a favorite guest star at this point?
01:50And have you pitched anyone for season two?
01:52I have so many favorites that I can't tell you about.
01:56You know, we gotta ask, tell me three words
02:00to describe kissing Joshua Jackson.
02:02In three words, I would say as an actor,
02:08he's incredibly respectful.
02:10There's one word.
02:12Second word is collaborative.
02:14I think that, you know, when you're doing romantic scenes,
02:18we kind of forget that they can be as like specific
02:21and as choreographed as like a danced number.
02:24So that, and you know, there's just like a level of spark.
02:28I'll say that, spark that these characters have,
02:31which is really great.
02:33Does it ever get easier?
02:34Nope, let's go.
02:35The internet is so funny.
02:37It's like everyone has rediscovered him
02:39and has a renewed thirst for him.
02:40Does he know about the Joshua songs?
02:42It's interesting to get to talk to someone
02:45who has been doing this for a very long time,
02:47only because he started when he was so young,
02:50to hear his perspective
02:52and how the industry has grown and changed.
02:55And yeah, it's just, it's great.
02:57It's like a masterclass in understanding this industry,
03:00you know, getting to hear his stories
03:02and things that he's experienced.

03:07Did you grow up watching Dawson's Creek?
03:09I didn't grow up watching Dawson's Creek.
03:11I know, I know, but I don't know.
03:14I don't know what was wrong with me.
03:16I was watching something else during that time.
03:19You are now a New York Times bestselling author

03:24along with being a Tony and Emmy nominated singer and actress.
03:28What is next for Phillipa Soo?
03:30Another thing that's really exciting
03:31that I got to be a part of is the Warriors album,
03:34which is a new concept album
03:36by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Issa Davis.
03:38And super proud of it.
03:40I just think I'm so honored that I got to be a part of it.
03:43And I heard it all for the first time the other day
03:47and it's in its final state with, you know,
03:50all the artists and all the music completed.
03:53And it's really special.
03:54And I'm really excited for people to hear it.
