00:00The renewable energy sector is experiencing exponential growth and is a determining factor in achieving the goals of decarbonisation and guaranteeing a sustainable future.
00:15Rapid development of the sector means a significant increase in the number of workers involved in the construction of the plants and a growing focus on the issue of safety at work.
00:26This was discussed at Together for Safety, the meeting organized by ENGIE, the leading company in decarbonisation and energy efficiency.
00:35The renewable energy sector is becoming increasingly important, both on the market and at the Italian level.
00:41We have extremely ambitious goals from here to 2030 and also for ENGIE as a consequence.
00:47We are an integrated operator in the entire energy sector and renewables are an increasingly important part of our investments.
00:56It is therefore essential that the issue of safety, which is crucial for us and our license to operate, is taken into consideration.
01:05ENGIE is carrying out an extremely detailed programme for all its businesses and for every activity we do in relation to safety,
01:13which starts with the training of our managers, the managers of the people on site, but also involving all our partners who work with us in the plants and beyond.
01:23In recent years we have halved the rate of accidents, also thanks to the sensitization that we are carrying out in a maniacal way,
01:31but for us it is very important that our managers, our people on site and our partners have this issue in mind
01:40and are trained to be able to address it in the most rigorous and serious way possible.
01:45It was a day of confrontation with institutions and operators of the energy market,
01:49aimed at sensitizing the actors involved on the fundamental issue of safety at work for a sector that between 2022 and 2023
01:56has seen the number of workers involved in the development of wind and photovoltaic plants increase by about 20%,
02:03going from more than 13 million to more than 16 million.
02:07Yes, we have foreseen, from our calculations, a very significant increase in jobs in the world of renewables.
02:15More or less, NIEC tells us that we should grow between 50 and 60 gigawatts of new plants in Italy,
02:22which means more or less 2,000 construction sites between today and 2030.
02:27We have made the calculation, more or less it means 140 million hours of work in the world of renewables,
02:36so safety is an important issue.
02:39I am very proud of this event because we had a good presence in the market,
02:44which means that there is attention from the market to safety.
02:48I have seen that there are also good practices that have been shared with the various suppliers and players of this event,
02:57so it was really a moment in which we were able to, in my opinion,
03:01grow the feeling that we all have to work together on the issue of safety.
