00:00Airbnb is cracking down on open invite Halloween celebrations and using AI to help.
00:06It is common knowledge that the platform bans disturbances to the surrounding community,
00:11including excessive noise, visitors and trash. But the policy doesn't necessarily stop or specify
00:18the disallowing of holiday celebrations over a holiday weekend. So the site has turned to AI
00:24to assist. An announcement on Tuesday confirmed Airbnb's use of an AI-driven anti-party system
00:31across the US and Canada to help reduce the risk of stay disruptions. In a news release,
00:36the company states, this state-of-the-art system utilizes AI and machine learning to take steps
00:42to try to identify potential higher risk one-night and two-night booking attempts
00:47for entire home listings and prevent those bookings from being made. To do this, the
00:52technology looks at hundreds of signals relating to the booking attempt that could indicate a
00:57higher risk for a disruptive or unauthorized party incident, including the length of the trip,
01:02the distance to the listing, and whether the booking is last minute.
