00:00Hey, how's it going? Dave2D here. So the other day I put up a poll on Twitter just to kind
00:08of see what setups you guys were using, and the most common answer was the Android phone
00:12with a Windows laptop or desktop, and I kind of expected that. But the thing that I thought
00:17was interesting was how few people were using Android phones with macOS as their operating
00:22system on their computer. So basically an Android phone with an Apple computer. And
00:26I thought it was strange because just so many of my friends and family use that as
00:29their primary setup. It was just a little bit strange. But I thought I would make a
00:33video to kind of showcase the stuff that I'm using in March of 2018. So I guess I'll start
00:39with the phone. The phone I'm using right now is the Pixel 2 XL. This is a relatively
00:44recent switch. If you asked me three weeks ago, it would have been the iPhone 10. But
00:48two things. Number one, the camera on the Pixel 2 XL is just, I think it's the best
00:53camera in the smartphone market right now. And the other thing that's been bugging me
00:57recently is I picked up the Apple HomePod. Pretty good looking device. And I've also
01:02been using the Google Home Max for quite a while now, since it launched. And I'm not
01:08going to do a review of these. I like this a lot, and I will say that this is a cooler
01:11looking device, and it sounds pretty good. I would actually say it sounds better than
01:14the Google Home Max. But I really don't like how aggressive they've been with the whole
01:18anti-competitive stuff. Like the fact that you can't use Spotify with it, and like there's
01:22so much dislike about this thing. And the fact that Siri is as bad as it is compared
01:27to Google Assistant. It just makes me not want to use this. So it just makes it an easier
01:31choice for me to use this as my primary phone. The Google Pixel 2 XL. Okay, the computer
01:37that I use the most frequently right now is this. The Dell XPS 15. It's not brand new
01:41or anything. This thing's actually from early 2017. But it's just such a well built machine,
01:46and the screen is awesome on it. Thin bezels. I like this thing a lot. Now I feel like it's
01:50due for a refresh relatively soon. The 8th gen H processors will probably hit this chassis
01:55in the spring or summer. And yeah, I'm looking forward to that. But this is my main laptop.
02:00The other laptop that I use occasionally is a 13 inch MacBook Pro without the touch bar.
02:04And I just use that to be able to access some of the stuff at work that requires macOS.
02:07Okay, next up is a battery pack. This is from Anker. I don't know the model name, but 26,800
02:14power core plus. That's a mouthful. But the thing that I like about this thing is the
02:17USB-C. So it uses USB-C to charge, and it can also output through USB-C. So you can
02:22fill up your laptop, your phone through that port, and you can use the charger from those
02:25devices to fill it back up. It's really convenient. Now, the backpack that I use for all of this
02:31is a backpack from a company called... Is this going to show? Sure. It's made by a company
02:39called Cote ACL. And it's a French company, so I'm sure I screwed up the name. But it's
02:43a pretty big backpack that can hold a ton of stuff. And it's just a nice looking backpack
02:48that I chose because of its aesthetics more than anything else. Okay, backpack done. What
02:53else do we got? In the backpack, I've emptied it out just for this video, but the stuff
02:57I normally go around with include the MX Anywhere 2S. So I think this is literally the best
03:01travel mouse available. It's small, lightweight, long battery life, awesome mouse. I also travel
03:07with this. This is a backup drive, Western Digital. And the reason why I like this drive
03:11over the Seagate drives that I used to use is simply because of the rubber feet on the
03:14bottom. It gives you a little bit of traction on your table wherever you place it, and I
03:17like that. I also travel always with these cables. If you guys have seen them in my videos
03:23before, they're called Chiffon or something, and they're just awesome utility. They're
03:27like nine bucks. You get every single charging cable that you could possibly need. And it's
03:31just something I always have in my bag. The external drive that I use the most frequently
03:35is this thing. It's the SSD2Go from Angelbird. It's a smaller, faster, better drive than
03:41the really common Samsung T3 or T5 drives. The real reason why I bought this was because
03:47of the blue color. I know, I'm a loser. Okay. Headphones that I use most frequently, H7
03:53wireless, B&O. I like these a lot. They're not cheap, but I think I've tried a lot of
03:57wireless headphones, and these are my favorite. Again, aesthetic plays a role in these. These
04:00look really clean, but they also sound excellent. So other stuff that I use is this thing. It's
04:05a flash drive. It's got USB-C on one end, USB-A on the other hand. I have this around
04:09all the time just in case I need a flash drive. I think that's basically it for tech. I have
04:14a whole bunch of knives in there. I don't know why I have this. This is a Gerber knife.
04:20It's by far my favorite small knife. I like small knives. I like to have them around,
04:24but this is my favorite one because you can replace the blade, always stays sharp, and
04:28it's just very compact, very inexpensive. The knife that I use in my studio most often
04:32is this thing. It's the James Chapter knife, and you can't get this anymore, unfortunately,
04:38but it's a limited edition. I got it because of the blue. I'm all about that blue. You
04:41guys know that. Oh, there's this. This isn't really tech. We're kind of devolving into
04:48this non-tech channel at this point. Books. I use one for work, one for YouTube. It's
04:54just ... and a pencil. These are pop-in books, different colors. I like that, and then a
04:58mechanical pencil from Pentel. It's called the Graph Gear 1000. I feel like I've shown
05:03this before in some video or another, but I really like this pencil, and I obviously
05:06like these books. You'll see these in all my videos in different colors and stuff. Sunglasses
05:10from Ray-Ban. Obviously, they're teal. Cameras that I'm using. I shoot off a Red Scarlet
05:16W. This is my regular camera. I'm actually recently trying out the Canon 1D X Mark II.
05:22I really like that camera way more than I thought I would. It's not meant for video
05:25only. It's primarily a stills camera, I think, but I've shot some B-roll with it, and I really
05:29like what I've seen with it so far. That's basically it. This is the stuff that I'm using
05:33right now in March of 2018. Okay. Hope you guys enjoyed this video. Thumbs if you liked
05:36it. Subs if you loved it. See you guys next time.
