00:00Once upon a time, there lived a man named Padmanabhan in a village called Achuthapuram.
00:12He had four sons and a huge land which had one acre of fields and crops in it.
00:18Since his grandfather or his forefathers had not given him a vast amount of wealth, all
00:24he had to look after himself and his family was the land.
00:29His sons were getting older each day and he did not know how to get them married as
00:35the wealth he had was very minimal.
00:38As he was getting really worried, one day he sat with his friend Ramalingam under a
00:45tree and had a conversation.
00:48Ramalingam looked at him and said this.
00:50Listen, I have been watching you for a long time and you seem to be very sad.
00:56Could you please tell me?
00:57I am going through a lot right now.
00:59My sons are at the age of getting married but I am unable to get him married because
01:03of the lack of wealth and resources that I have and also all of my children right now
01:07are very irresponsible and unruly.
01:10Don't worry about that my friend.
01:11Your sons will gain responsibility dignity very soon.

04:15After listening to what the stranger said, the eldest son thought about it for a while

04:20You have a lot of bamboo trees in your land.
04:22You can hire somebody from the nearby village to come and cut the bamboos and make a lot
04:26of profits.
04:27What you are saying is a very good idea, my friend.
04:30But unfortunately, I am way too old and I cannot do that work.
04:32I just want somebody to come and take the bamboo trees and do whatever they want with
04:36it.
04:38If I could do it, it would be very glad to take the bamboo trees from my land.
04:41This idea interested the eldest son very much.
04:44He thought about the massive amounts of profits that he can make from taking the bamboo trees
04:49and selling it in the city.
04:51As he kept thinking about it, he was only worried about the travelling cost.
04:55The eldest son looked at the stranger and said this.
04:58Then fine.
04:59I shall also bring my brothers with me to your land so that we can finish the job as
05:03fast as we can.
05:05After listening to what the eldest son said, the stranger said that he would be there by
05:09tomorrow morning to pick them up.
05:12That evening, the eldest son looked at his brothers and said this.
05:15Listen to me, my brothers.
05:16Tomorrow we have a massive task ahead of us.
05:19This task will pay us a lot and we shall split the money equally.
05:22All the brothers agreed to what the eldest brother said.
05:25The next day morning, brothers worked day and night to cut off the bamboo trees in that
05:30land.
05:31They took the bamboos and went back to their home.
05:34This is a very difficult task to work in your land or a farm.
05:37If all of us get married, it will be very difficult for us to look after and help each
05:42other.
05:43Therefore, I suggest an idea where we take all the bamboos that we had just taken from
05:47the land and we sell it for a high price.
05:49This will help us use the money to start a business.
05:53All the four brothers accepted what the eldest son said.
05:56They remembered the trials and tribulations that their parents had gone through.
06:00The next day, as they were ready to sell all the bamboos they have taken from the stranger's
06:05land, the second brother comes running from outside to the house and says this to the
06:10oldest brother.
06:11Brother, instead of selling bamboos in the city, I have a businessman who is willing
06:16to purchase the bamboos with a higher price.
06:18I have informed him to come and talk to you.
06:21So he is right here.
06:22The younger brother introduces the businessman that he was referring to his older brother.
06:27The businessman looks at the brothers and says this.
06:31I have already seen you yesterday.

07:22My brother, has the bamboo sold at a good price or shall we sell the rest of it to the businessman?
07:26When I went and enquired about the price of the bamboo tree, some of them told me to fix
07:31up a mat with the bamboo stems and would cost more than just the bamboo tree.
07:35If we can ourselves do this work, why can't we make mats out of these bamboo trees and
07:40sell it for a higher price?
07:41He is right.
07:42If we can make mats out of these bamboo trees, we can make more money by selling it.
07:47But we first have to learn about that.
07:49As these brothers were conversing with each other, their mother was listening to this
07:53quietly from the side.
07:54Padmanabhan's wife then came and she smiled and says this.
07:58I know how to make a mat out of the bamboo trees, my sons.
08:02I don't want you to worry about anything anymore.
08:04I shall teach you how to make them.
08:07The four brothers along with their mother started making bamboo mats in the house.
08:11Padmanabhan came back from the city and was shocked to see everything.
08:15He looks at his family and says this.
08:17What is going on in my house?
08:19Could somebody explain to me what is happening?
08:21The eldest son replied to his father and explained him everything that had happened.
08:25Padmanabhan listened to his son and walked away with a simple smile on his face.
08:30The brothers were not able to understand why their father smiled and they started making
08:35mats, baskets and chairs with the bamboo trees.
08:38After they finished making all the products, the next day, the third brother says this
08:43to the businessman.
08:44Sir, I would ask you to kindly forgive me.
08:47As we work hard to create all these bamboo products, we have decided to not sell this
08:51to you and try to sell this to the people ourselves.
08:54The businessman was very shocked to hear this and he looked at the brothers and said this.
08:59My friends, listen to me.

12:42that they had.
12:44Since their price was much cheaper in the village than in city, everything was sold
12:49out.
12:50Immediately, the sons collected all the money that they had made and went home and gave
12:55it to their father.
12:56The elder son looked at Padmanabhan and said this.
13:00Father, this is the first money that we have made with our hard work and our determination.
13:05We would like you to give this to us with your blessings.
13:07Thank you my sons.
13:08What I would like to do is, first to take off the price that you had for the bamboos.
13:12That is your first task.
13:13The elder son was quite surprised and he asked this.
13:17But father, didn't we get that bamboo for free from the stranger in his land?
13:21You are right.
13:22The stranger did give you the bamboos for free.
13:24But if we were to do this business again, we have to purchase bamboos as not everybody
13:30would be giving it to us for free.

13:36Padmanabhan laughed at what his elder son said and he says this.
13:41My sons, within ten days, you have earned so much money that I haven't earned with
13:45my farmland in five years.
13:47You have realized how to do business in a span of a week.
13:50I want you to continue to pursue your skills and your ambitions and achieve more and more
13:54in your life.
13:55I want all of you to be successful and prosperous.
13:58All the four sons understood what their father said and proceeded with their ambition to
14:03make more money with the bamboo business that they have learnt.
14:08They went on to purchase more bamboos and started selling some more bamboo products
14:13by manufacturing them and selling them.
14:16As Padmanabhan promised to Ramalingam, all four of those sons were married at the same
14:21day with the father's blessings.
14:24But Padmanabhan kept the secret of how all this occurred from them till the rest of time.
14:30All the four sons lived happily ever after with their newly wed wives.
