00:28That same year, Diddy welcomed another young protege to Puffy Flavor Camp.
00:33Usher was a young teenager when he went to live with Diddy in New York for a year.
00:36And you're going to go to Puff Daddy's.
00:38In the 90s, do you understand what that's like?
00:41Diddy executive produced Usher's debut studio album
00:44and introduced the rising star to his excessive lifestyle.
00:47Reflecting on Diddy's, quote,
00:49wild parties in 2016, Usher said he'd never send his children to Flavor Camp.
00:54You're a dad now, would you ever send your kid to Puffy Camp?
00:57Hell no.
00:58That didn't stop one of Usher's proteges from working and partying alongside Puffy.
01:03After Scooter Braun discovered Justin Bieber on YouTube,
01:06the 13-year-old singer met Usher.
01:09Braun and Usher founded RBMG Records, delivering a launching pad for Bieber's career.
01:14Yeah, and we ended up signing a deal with Usher a couple months later.
01:17Although Usher provided a common link,
01:19Bieber directly contacted Diddy through Twitter on October 15th, 2009,
01:24asking if he'd collaborate on a song.
01:26Diddy quickly responded, quote,
01:28Send me the song. I'll check it out. Thanks.
01:31Bieber soon found himself at Diddy's house with a few others.
01:34Although they didn't record a song,
01:36the two shot a video where Diddy promised Bieber a Lamborghini for his upcoming 16th birthday
01:41and a mansion for his 18th.
01:43When you get 18, you get the house. You get the mansion.
01:46Addressing the camera, Diddy said Bieber would be with him for 48 hours.
01:51This video saw a resurgence in 2024 as Diddy faced charges of abuse and sex trafficking.
01:57These accusations left people viewing the video in a much different light,
02:00prompting them to question what happened over those 48 hours.

02:11the fan wiki Bieberpedia has potentially connected a few dots.
02:15The video was posted to Bieber's YouTube channel on November 9th, 2009.

02:23According to Bieberpedia though, the video was shot on October 31st.
02:28That same day, Bieber recorded a bit for 97.1 AMP radio
02:33and modeled for the clothing company Levi's.
02:35By nightfall, Bieber was trick-or-treating with his friends.
02:39Diddy notably isn't present in any of these photos.
02:42On November 1st, Bieber tweeted that he couldn't travel to Vancouver
02:45for a show as planned because of an illness.
02:48If Bieberpedia is accurate,
02:50it's possible that Diddy wasn't actually with Bieber for 48 straight hours
02:54and that video was more of a publicity stunt.
02:59Another video posted to Diddy's YouTube page on December 15th, 2010
03:04also garnered concern amid his recent arrest.
03:07When Diddy asked why they hadn't hung out for a while,
03:10Bieber gave him a fake 555 number.

03:17Knowing what we know now,
03:19some have interpreted this as Bieber trying to distance himself from Diddy.
03:23This seems unlikely for three reasons.
03:26One, if that was the case,
03:28Bieber probably wouldn't have shot the video or accepted Diddy's dirty money swag.
03:36Two, Bieber obviously wasn't gonna give his real number in a public video.
03:40And three, Diddy and Bieber were seen together several times
03:44throughout the following years.
03:45Most notably, Jimmy Kimmel interviewed them in 2011,
03:49where Diddy said Bieber, quote,
03:50knows better than to share what they do together.
03:53He knows better than to be talking about the things that he does with Big Brother Puff.
03:59Bieber started to gain a bad boy reputation after being arrested in January 2014.
04:04Pulled over for suspicions of drunk driving,
04:07Bieber was also accused of drag race,
04:09driving with an expired license and resisting arrest.
04:12All right, the first case this afternoon is Justin Bieber.
04:16Diddy defended Bieber,
04:18saying he would ensure the young artist made more responsible decisions.
04:22I don't think that he should be judged like he's not a human being.
04:27This wasn't reflected behind the scenes.
04:29A month after his arrest, Bieber was seen at one of Diddy's parties in Atlanta.
04:34Rick Ross, Lil Scrappy, T.I. and several others were also in attendance.
04:39Bieber was still a month away from turning 20.
04:42Although the media focused on Bieber's behavior,
04:45few questioned the nature of Diddy's parties
04:47or why so many adults were partying with someone who hadn't even turned 21 yet.
04:52Bieber attended Justin Combs' 21st birthday in 2015.
04:56Then when Bieber turned 21, he recorded a video with Diddy.
05:00Drinking tequila together, Diddy claimed that this was Bieber's, quote,

05:10For Bieber's 22nd birthday,
05:12Diddy presented him with a Bad Boy Letterman jacket.
05:14By early 2020, it appeared Bieber had changed his ways,
05:18expressing a desire to start a family with his wife Hailey.
05:22In an Apple Music interview,
05:23Bieber also tearfully made a vague statement about wanting to, quote,
05:27protect Billie Eilish from the industry hurdles he endured as an up-and-coming artist.
05:32I just want to protect her, you know?
05:35I don't want her to go through anything I went through.
05:37Bieber didn't name any names and could have been alluding to any number of struggles.
05:42Through a modern lens, though, it's hard not to think of Diddy.
05:46It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry.
05:50A few months after the Apple interview,
05:52two Twitter users accused Bieber of sexual assault.
05:55Bieber denied these accusations and filed a defamation suit against the users,
05:59which he later dropped.
06:01Bieber weathered this scandal, with the media's attention soon shifting to Diddy.
06:05In 2021, Diddy was recorded checking to see if Bieber was wearing a wire, albeit playfully.
06:12In 2023, Bieber was featured in the song
06:15Moments for Diddy's fifth studio album The Love Album Off The Grid.
06:18Over a decade after Bieber reached out to Diddy on Twitter,
06:22the two had finally collaborated on a song.
06:24I've been faking for a long time
06:29The Love Album was possibly the last high point of Diddy's career.
06:33It also might have marked the end of his friendship with Bieber.

06:38In November 2023, Diddy's ex Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against him,
06:44alleging assault and sex trafficking.
06:46Despite settling, Diddy lost in the court of public opinion
06:49after footage of him seemingly beating Ventura was leaked.
06:52More lawsuits piled up before Diddy's arrest in September 2024.
06:57Lawyer said in a statement that he voluntarily actually relocated to New York recently
07:02in anticipation of these charges.
07:04After Diddy's indictment, over 100 others, some minors, would join in legal action against him.
07:11While Diddy has denied these claims and is innocent until proven guilty,
07:15the public may never view him the same way again.
07:18As such, the photos of him hanging out with Bieber have taken on a more disturbing sentiment.
07:23Given Bieber's age at the time and the crimes that allegedly took place at Diddy's parties,
07:28some have questioned if the young artist was groomed.
07:31I don't have legal guardianship of him, but for the next 48 hours, he's with me.
07:36Around the same time as Diddy's arrest,
07:38Bieber seemingly released a song about losing himself at a Diddy party.
07:41The song includes unsettling lyrics like,
07:44quote,
07:44"'I was in it for a new Ferrari, but it cost me way more than my soul.'"
07:48According to researchers, though, this viral song is almost certainly AI-generated.
07:54There's still some AI artifacts in the voice that I can hear.
07:57As of writing, the real Bieber has remained mostly silent about his former mentor.
08:02About a month before Diddy's arrest,
08:05Justin and Hailey Bieber welcomed their first child.
08:08As Diddy dominated headlines, a source said that Bieber just wanted,
08:12quote,
08:12"...to focus on being a great dad and husband."
08:15A source also claimed that Bieber was, quote,
08:17"...advised to stay as far away as possible from anything and everything related to Diddy."
08:22They've been absorbed in their own happiness and family,
