00:00Xbox One X or PS4 Pro, what do we think?
00:06Supposedly heavy.
00:08It's all about the size and the weight of the console.
00:11We want to find out what the difference is between the Pro and the X,
00:14also which one you should buy, if you should buy either,
00:17and I've invited these guys, who are YouTubers and Twitch streamers,
00:20to come and help me figure it all out.
00:22We should actually plug them in.
00:24That might help.
00:25As opposed to just weighing them.
00:31So, the biggest reason you'd want to go for the new consoles
00:34is the performance boost, right?
00:36I mean, these are 4K consoles, they're way more powerful,
00:39and they can make games look better.
00:41Everyone likes to talk about teraflops, right?
00:43I love it, I can't get enough of it.
00:45Six teraflops versus four teraflops.
00:48So, if we're going based on pure technical horsepower,
00:52the Xbox One X is the world's most powerful console.
00:55Would you buy it?
00:57Would you say that the Xbox with six teraflops,
00:59is that more future-proof than the PlayStation 4 Pro?
01:02Well, that's the big thing, isn't it?
01:04Because all these consoles, whether you go Xbox One X or PS4 Pro,
01:07they play the same games as the PS4 and Xbox.
01:10So, they're always going to be held back
01:12by the last current gen of consoles.
01:15That's true.
01:16So, even if the Xbox One X is more powerful,
01:18still going to have to work on Xbox One.
01:20So, 4K, HDR, 60 FPS,
01:24HDR, 60 FPS.
01:26Looks gorgeous.
01:27I think Forza 7 on the Xbox One X is...
01:29One of the best-looking games.
01:31If you don't have the 4K TV and it doesn't do 4K HDR,
01:35are you really going to see that much difference?
01:37I'd say no.
01:38Yeah, no, I wouldn't say so, really.
01:39I don't think you would.
01:40But you do still get a performance boost if you have a 1080p TV.
01:44So, you might still get higher frame rate or better graphical effects,
01:47just not the resolution, which is still an improvement.
01:50But probably not enough for most people to notice.
01:52I think you're not going to notice a few frames better on one
01:55and less on another.
01:56People care about that.
01:57Some people probably do, yeah.
02:00They'll find the difference of 58 versus 57 FPS
02:02in Assassin's Creed Origins.
02:04Yeah, if that's important to you, then, yeah,
02:05obviously it'll make a difference.
02:06But I think to most people, probably not.
02:09Personally, I prefer the dashboard on the PlayStation.

02:28I was really surprised that the X didn't really speed up the dashboard.

02:38I think one thing which is really good with the Xbox
02:41is within literally a few buttons,
02:43you can be live streaming or recording.
02:46That's four buttons to basically be broadcasting or capture.
02:50It's super simple.
02:51You don't necessarily need an Elgato to now capture the content.
02:55You can get an hour of 4K HDR, 60.
02:57Straight onto an external hard drive or something, which is incredible.
03:00One downfall on the PlayStation is it doesn't have a UHD player.
03:06Because if you're going to buy a UHD player,
03:08they're quite expensive.
03:10So to have one included with the Xbox, I think, is a massive bonus.
03:14Would you spend 25 quid on a UHD Blu-ray?
03:17That's the other thing. I'm not sure I would.
03:21Just because you have the top-of-the-range console
03:24doesn't mean the games are going to run amazingly.
03:26For instance, PUBG on Xbox.
03:29You can have the brand-new Xbox, £450 Xbox.
03:33You buy the brand-new PUBG game.
03:36It doesn't mean it's going to run well.
03:38I even made a video about that.

03:43There's a card in there.
03:44A lot of games like Shadow of Mordor,
03:46you choose between high resolution and high performance.
03:49So you can have 4K at 30, often is the case, or 1080p 60.
03:54I would always go frame rate.
03:57Frame rate.
03:59Over the actual crispness of 4K.
04:02But isn't it weird if we're paying 400 quid for a console
04:05that we have to compromise?
04:07Which suggests these are not next-gen consoles.
04:10Yeah, I think £150-ish difference
04:14between the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X
04:17is a big difference.
04:19You can get a good couple of games,
04:21extra controller and stuff for that price.
04:23Which is a lot.
04:24It is expensive.
04:25We have to admit that.
04:26You can get the Xbox One S with games.
04:29It still supports HDR.
04:31It's still got a UHD Blu-ray player.
04:33It's like 180 quid.
04:35That is very cheap.
04:36So the only difference is a bit more powerful for 4K.
04:40Yeah.
04:42That's the only difference.
04:44For an extra £300.
04:46When you start bringing into the lower price bracket,
04:48that's when it gets really difficult to make a decision.
04:50But if you want that super high-end performance,
04:53you should maybe buy a PC.
04:55If you're really serious, then a PC is probably the way to go.
04:58And with Xbox, a lot of their exclusives are Windows Store now.
05:01So you can play Forza 7 and Gears of War on the PC.
05:07So does that not mean you should probably have a PC and a PlayStation?
05:10Is that the best combo?
05:11But then is the PC going to cost more than the Xbox?
05:13Yeah.
05:14Probably a lot more, yeah.
05:15There we go.
05:16So if you're talking about money,
05:17then it will be easier to buy the Xbox because it's all built-in.
05:19Yes.
05:20It's not a simple question.
05:21So maybe if you've already got a PS4 or an Xbox One,
05:24wait for a couple more years?
05:26Probably, because it's almost like a half-step.
05:28They still play all the same games,
05:29so it's almost like a half-generation, really, I think.
05:31I think it will start getting interesting when the PlayStation 5 comes out.
05:34And then hopefully we'll have Solid State and everything like that.
05:37Yeah, hopefully.

06:00It would probably have to be PlayStation.

06:04Probably because I grew up with it.

06:06And the games, like the exclusives, I would say.

06:10I think that's a very hard thing to answer.
06:12The main reason is PlayStation VR is a very tough decision for me
06:16because I love Halo and I love Gears of War.

06:19And you prefer an Xbox controller.
06:20I prefer an Xbox controller.
06:22But PlayStation VR, I think, is a very cool thing.
06:24But it's not for everyone.

06:26I think it's difficult because I've got both.

06:49We are all choosing PlayStation.
