00:00Long ago, in the land of Israel, there was a young boy named David.

00:04He was the youngest of eight brothers and lived in the town of Bethlehem.

00:08David wasn't just any boy, he had a special job, looking after his father's sheep.

00:14He spent his days and nights in the fields, making sure no harm came to them.

00:19It wasn't an easy job, especially when danger lurked.

00:22Lions and bears often tried to snatch the sheep, but David was brave.

00:27With only his staff and sling, he fought them off, protecting his flock.

00:31When he wasn't with his sheep, David loved playing his harp.

00:35He played so beautifully that even the birds stopped to listen.

00:39One day, a wise man named Samuel visited David's house.

00:44God had told Samuel that David would be the future king of Israel.

00:48So Samuel anointed David, which means he chose David for a very important role.

00:54Meanwhile, in a valley not too far away, a huge problem was growing.

00:59The Israelites and their enemies, the Philistines, were preparing for battle.

01:03The Philistines had a giant warrior named Goliath.

01:07He was taller than any man and stronger than any bear.

01:11Every day, Goliath challenged the Israelites to send a warrior to fight him,

01:15but everyone was too afraid.

01:17One day, David went to bring food to his brothers who were with the Israelite army.

01:22When he saw Goliath, he couldn't believe that everyone was afraid of him.

01:27I'll fight Goliath!

01:29God has protected me from lions and bears while I guarded my sheep.

01:34He will protect me now.

01:35The king gave David armor, but it was too heavy.

01:38So David decided to use just his sling and some stones.

01:42As Goliath moved in to attack, David took a stone,

01:46put it in his sling, and swung it with all his might.

01:49The stone flew through the air and hit Goliath right in the forehead.

01:53Goliath fell to the ground, and David had won.

01:57David's bravery showed that no matter how small you are,

02:00you can overcome big challenges with faith and courage.

02:04And that young boy David would go on to be one of the greatest kings of Israel.
