00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be doing my updated video on the Pixel.
00:04It's been about 4 days and I want to go ahead and talk about my experience with this phone
00:09and the things that I really like and the things that I do not like about this phone.
00:13The first thing is the storage. If you guys have been watching the comparisons,
00:17I have been saying that this is horrible to have 128GB of internal storage on a $1000 plus device.
00:26It is absolutely insane. I don't understand how people are not talking about this, how Google is getting away with this.
00:32So if we go to the settings and click on storage, I'm 69% used already on my storage.
00:40And that's just with downloading a couple games and stuff.
00:43You guys see why I say if you like SD card supports, you want an SD card phone,
00:48if you download a lot of stuff, you will run out of storage.
00:51You can see Genshin took up like 30GB.
00:54But if you are somebody who is a phone gamer or you just take a lot of high-res video,
00:58when your phone like me, I use all the pixels to film my shorts, you will run out of storage fast.
01:03So this is something that I absolutely do not like about this phone is that for the base model,
01:09128GB is not enough for the price that they're asking for.
01:13Also, one of the things that I have noticed here is that there's this weird scroll lag with this phone
01:21and I know it's got to do something with this phone in particular because it's not on my Pixel 8 Pro or 7 Pro
01:27and I don't even see it on my 6 Pro as well.
01:29So it's something with this phone.
01:31This is easily can be fixed in software, but if you like scrolling through Chrome and stuff like that,
01:37you will get like these weird little hiccups and stuff.
01:40It does it really randomly too.
01:42It's never really consistent.
01:44So now it's like smooth just because I guess I'm on video.
01:47But it will choke up and do like random stuff.
01:50I noticed like launching Subway Surfer as well too.
01:53You will see like this little random animation lags and stuff like that,
01:57which is weird to me because it's not like this is a new version of Android.
02:00It's Android 14.
02:01So I'm not saying that the software is buggy.
02:03I've just noticed that this phone has had like these random little lags,
02:07which again will definitely, well, I think get fixed.
02:11And you will see it being more apparent.
02:13I think the worst of the lag is actually in the camera.
02:15So let me come in.
02:16If I had to go into 2X, you can see you get that really jerkiness in terms of switching transitions.
02:24So it's something that I wish they would fix.
02:28It's just not smooth at all.
02:31Now it's not showing up in the video.
02:33So that's something that is really nice.
02:35So we don't have that issue.
02:37It's pretty smooth.
02:39Except when you get to the five times and it starts to do that little jerkiness again.
02:45But yeah, this is something that they need to fix as well too.
02:48It's something that I noticed.
02:50And I do want to talk about this design.
02:52So I think this is probably one of my favorite designs this year so far that I've seen.
02:57I absolutely love this design.
02:59A lot of people have been like, it's kind of like 50-50 from what I've been looking at in the comments.
03:04A lot of people like it.
03:06A lot of people don't.
03:07A lot of people like the older pixel design.
03:10And let me grab.
03:14A lot of people like kind of like the squared off pixel design.
03:18It really depends on your personal preference.
03:22The only thing I don't like about this design in particular is that you do have these fingerprints on the sides.
03:31And it's just one of those phones that you kind of constantly have to wipe down.
03:35And then also this button placement.
03:39I would prefer to move the volume rocker to the left side.
03:43But if they could space this out more or something like this or bring this up or something.
03:48Because you find yourself clicking the top button to turn it on.
03:53Because most phones, especially on the Galaxy, or they could bring it down like the Galaxy makes more sense.
03:59It's because a lot of phones do it this way.
04:01So if they do it this way, I don't know what possessed them to do it like this.
04:05It's very confusing, right?
04:07All right, here's another thing that I don't like and I just find to be kind of strange.
04:12So the 8K video on this phone is not really 8K.
04:16So I'll show you guys.
04:18Record.
04:21Yes, 24.
04:22We'll do, you know, four seconds.
04:24And then if we go ahead and.
04:29Play that back and get our information.
04:31You can see what we just recorded.
04:34It says 1080p.
04:36So Google wants us to use this video boost feature.
04:40And this one saying it can't boost it.
04:42To boost, turn on, back up.
04:44And settings, back up this.
04:45Yeah, you have to do a bunch of weird stuff like back up, turn on the back up.
04:50And then when you do that, it uploads it to, I guess, the Google servers or something like that.
04:55And then it'll upscale it to 8K.
04:58But why can't it just record in 8K?
05:01I just think it doesn't make any sense.
05:03So like, for instance, on the Galaxy, this is how you're supposed to do it.
05:08Right?
05:09Because it just comes off as sketchy.
05:11So you see we're in 8K30.
05:14Hit the record button.
05:21OK.
05:22Click on information.
05:24And you can see we're actually in 8K30.
05:28Like, you hit the record button in 8K, it records in 8K.
05:32Why do we have to go through this whole thing with the servers and the thing?
05:38I don't get it.
05:39Now let's talk about the display and performance here.
05:43I really like the display this year.
05:45I have no issues with it.
05:47It's very, very bright as well too.
05:49It gets up to 3000 nits peak brightness.
05:51So being outdoors and taking photos and stuff like that, watching videos outdoors,
05:56this phone is super, super bright.
05:57So you don't really have to worry about that.
05:59So that's one thing that I really like that they've done with the display.
06:02And overall, colors and everything look great.
06:04I don't think it's better than Samsung's panel though because on the S24 Ultra,
06:08it just seems a little bit more vibrant to me.
06:12That's just my personal preference.
06:14But I really like the display on this phone this year.
06:16I have no issue with it.
06:18A lot of people don't like that the punch hole has actually gotten a little bit bigger
06:21because they have this 42 megapixel camera in here.
06:24So I'm assuming they switched to some type of bigger sensor or something like that.
06:28I don't have an issue with that.
06:30You don't really notice it at all.
06:32So overall, the display is fine.
06:34Now let's talk about this Tensor G4 processor.
06:38This processor is fine.
06:40What Google has done with the cooling this year,
06:42this phone has not gotten hot at all doing anything for me,
06:45like recording video, playing games.
06:47This phone is actually relatively cool.
06:51I'm impressed with how cool it is for the most part.
06:54I haven't had zero performance problems if you're gaming or anything like that.
06:59So that's something that I really like.
07:01You also got the 16 gigs of RAM and like I said, the infamous 128 gigs of storage.
07:07But besides that, display and performance on here is just fine.
07:11Like I said, I have no issues with this panel here.
07:14Now I have not really been talking about the AI stuff
07:17and that's because I have not been interested in it.
07:20And I also think my audience is just straight up not interested.
07:23I think you guys are not interested in the AI stuff at all either.
07:26I won't say at all.
07:28But the AI stuff is really not that interesting.
07:31I never use the AI stuff.
07:33The only thing I can think about like using AI stuff for is like,
07:37you know, if I'm out and I might take a picture or something.
07:40Like I saw like a food truck thing and I want to see the menu.
07:44So you just take a picture of it, use the circle to search.
07:47But the circle to search is really just Google Lens, right?
07:51But that's the only thing that I would use, right?
07:54They have the screenshot stuff in here,
07:57which I think I don't really like the idea that it's analyzing the screenshots you take.
08:04Like I think it's just too much information.
08:06So a lot of this stuff is to me, I don't like a lot of the AI stuff personally.
08:10But I know like at this point we give all our information to Google anyway.
08:15The Pixel Studio is actually really, really funny.
08:18This is actually my favorite thing to come in here.
08:21If you're just kind of bored.
08:23So we can just put Mario and Sonic cooking.
08:34See what pops up.
08:35I mean, this is just like if you're bored, I'll just come in here.
08:38It's actually been pretty fun.
08:40I've actually had a lot of fun with this.
08:42So it's just one of those things that I actually really like.
08:45If you're somebody who's into wallpapers and this little goofy stuff like this, this is fun.
08:50But I wouldn't use it.
08:51None of the AI stuff is actually interesting to me at all.
08:54And I'm not just picking on Google.
08:56It's all of it.
08:57Like Samsung, I'm sure Apple with their stuff next month.
09:01It's just to me, it's not anything that I think anybody is using on a daily basis.
09:07Besides like, you know, if they're just messing around on their phone,
09:10I don't think anybody's really using this stuff.
09:12But again, as AI progresses with the software, I'm sure it'll get more and more useful as they roll out stuff.
09:18But right now, it's just, this is just nonsense stuff to sell you up on, you know, a new model.
09:23Also, one of the best things with this phone this year is the fingerprint scanner.
09:30It's so much.
09:31I mean, guys, it's so, once you do an ultrasonic one, you never want to go back to an optical one.
09:39Being able to just like lightly, barely touch it.
09:41It's just way faster.
09:43So that's something that I really like.
09:44And I think lastly, camera quality, you guys know I'm a big Pixel fan, right?
09:49So I don't have any issues with the cameras.
09:51The video is solid.
09:52I'll be using the Pixel 9 Pro XL for all of my shorts.
09:56You know, just like all the rest of the Pixels.
09:58I love Pixel video.
09:59Only thing I don't like is the weird thing that they do with the upscaling.
10:04But I love the video.
10:05You guys know I love the pictures as well too.
10:08Skin tones is great, especially people of color.
10:10It does excellent, accurate skin tones.
10:14And the overall battery life on here has been pretty good.
10:18It's definitely a step up from the Pixel 8 Pro.
10:20The standby time lasts longer.
10:22And you are getting a better screen on time as well too.
10:25It's pretty much the same size battery.
10:26Google's quote unquote fast charging at 37 watts is ridiculous.
10:32I think at least like 45, 50 watts or something like that.
10:36It charges decently fast though, so I'm not going to complain too much about that.
10:40But, you know, everything else is here.
10:42Wireless, reverse wireless charging, all that good stuff.
10:44So overall, I really like the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
10:47If you have a Pixel 8, you should not upgrade.
10:49If you have a Pixel 7 Pro, you should probably not upgrade it.
10:54But it really depends on what you're doing.
10:56If you have a Pixel 6 Pro, I think it's a pretty decent upgrade actually.
11:00Because they fixed a lot of the things about that, you know, the 6 Pro.
11:04And also that phone is coming to the end of its lifespan.
11:07It will be getting Android 15, its last update.
11:10And, you know, so I like the phone.
11:14You know, I like that it's giving 7 years of updates as well too.
11:17This is a phone that you can buy and you'll be happy with it.
11:20You'll be able to use it for a long time.
11:22So what do you guys think?
11:24Have you guys got this Pixel 9 Pro XL?
11:26Do you guys like it?
11:27Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
