00:00Thank you sir for the opportunity again.
00:03So my question is basically to shed light on to the prostitution now.
00:09Like this is the thing which is considered a taboo and a stigma in the society and the
00:14people really don't want to talk about it and acknowledge it.
00:18But this is something which is going on and will continue to go on.
00:22So like what should be the, like you said, who is the society, we are the society.
00:28So what should be our perspective towards it?
00:31Like is it really a taboo or is there some otherwise, like some way out?
00:37What are you talking of?
00:38Prostitution.
00:39See, when the goal of life is material pleasure, then whatever gives you material pleasure
00:51will be obtained and material price will be paid for the material good.
01:01How do you look at a human being?
01:03If you look at a human being as a mere body, because you look at yourself as a mere body
01:11because you do not give enough respect to your consciousness, then why will you not
01:17purchase that body?
01:19Don't you see that prostitution is a direct result of lack of spirituality?
01:27The more materialistic you are, the more will be the tendency to buy a body.
01:33In fact, in several countries, it is quite legal.
01:36It is legal because they say, well, there are goods to be bought and sold.
01:41The body too is a good.
01:42And if somebody is selling it, somebody is buying it, what's the problem?
01:47And from the place they are coming, it is quite alright.
01:52They are saying there is nothing called the consciousness.
01:56We are just animals and animal is just the body.
02:00The man is the body, the woman is the body and the body wants to consume another body.
02:07Just keep it legal.
02:10Don't force yourself on the other body.
02:12Pay the price.
02:14Pay the price.
02:16And in fact, the prostitute has to pay taxes because she is earning some money.
02:21So she pays the tax.
02:25What is the body?
02:27The body is the seat of consciousness.
02:32And the consciousness is the only thing worth respecting.
02:37When this is how you look at the body, then only the body becomes sacred.
02:42Otherwise the body is just like anything else, like shoes, like clothes, like a piece
02:50of scrap metal, available to be bought and sold.
02:59What is this?
03:00This is just material like anything else, right?
03:03A lot of carbon here, some hydrogen, some nitrogen, some oxygen.
03:08That's what this body is, correct?
03:10So if you can buy carbon, why can't you buy somebody's body, tell me?
03:16Carbon and nitrogen are available in the market, correct?
03:20And this body too is a lot of carbon and nitrogen.
03:23Why can't you purchase a body?
03:27The answer will be because the body is conscious.
03:35And therefore you cannot purchase the body.
03:36Otherwise the body is just carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen and a few minerals.
03:43So it is consciousness that is special about the body.
03:47You will treat the body with respect only when you respect consciousness.
03:54But there are cultures and philosophies in which consciousness is not even acknowledged.
03:59All that is acknowledged is iron and chlorine and carbon and oxygen.
04:06These are acknowledged.
04:08Consciousness is not acknowledged.
04:14Now why is it surprising that prostitution is legal?
04:22The fellow says, I have many things.
04:24If I can sell my shoes and my car, why can't I sell my genitals?
04:32After all I have to make a living.
04:35And the government agrees.
04:36Government says, fine, yes, earn money this way and pay me the taxes, I am okay.
04:41In fact, I'll use this object to even lure tourists.
04:52Something special is being sold in my country, please come as tourists and buy.
05:01Just as there is medical tourism, no?
05:05Just as you visit a place as a tourist to consume the sights and the sceneries, similarly
05:11you visit places to consume somebody's body.
05:16You have to look at problems in their entirety.
05:22You have to go to the place they emerge from.
05:27We are very embarrassed when it comes to the word prostitution.
05:34But what if the husband and wife look at each other as mere bodies?
05:38Why are you not embarrassed then?
05:40How is it very different from prostitution, please tell me?
05:46The boy comes to look at the girl and all he is doing is measuring up her body.
05:53How is that not prostitution?
05:55Please tell me.
05:59Same from the woman's side.
06:00If the woman is just measuring up the man's body or the man's bank balance, how is that
06:06not prostitution?
06:08What is prostitution then?
06:09To look at a living being as merely a body, that is prostitution.
06:17A mother is very concerned about the baby, the body of the baby and only the body of
06:24the baby.
06:26How is this very different from what the prostitute is doing?
06:32The mother is not at all worried about, let's say, the consciousness of the baby, what is
06:36happening in the baby's mind, but she is very worried that the baby is well fed.
06:42Have you had food, baby?
06:44Are you warm, baby?
06:45Are you wearing the right kind of clothes, baby?
06:49All these things she is very particular about, but she has no idea of what is happening in
06:54the kid's interiors.
06:55In fact, she gives zero respect to what is happening in the kid's interiors.
06:59How is this very different from the place that gives birth to prostitution?
07:04Or a person looking at himself or herself as merely a body, standing for two hours in
07:12front of the mirror, doing make-up, how is this not prostitution?
07:16Alright you have no active buyers, alright you are not accepting money to sell your body,
07:21but you are indeed looking at yourself as just the body.
07:26The moment you look at yourself as just the body, prostitution has started.
07:39That's why Vedanta is needed, to tell you again and again that the body is your fact
07:48but not your truth, that your truth is beyond the body.
07:52And if Vedanta is not there, all that you will have is prostitution in its myriad forms.
08:00Only one form is called prostitution officially.
08:04Other forms we give very respectable names.
08:09But those who really understand life, they know that the moment a body becomes something
08:15totally material, the moment a human being is reduced to his physical existence, it is
08:20prostitution irrespective of the glorifying name you give it.
