A woman says the 27-year age gap with her elderly husband makes him a 'better dad' due to his 'mature age' - despite strangers mistaking him for their baby's grandad.
Gretchen Dillon, 36, had preferred to date women before she locked eyes on Michael Dillon, 63, in her local supermarket in October 2014.
Striking up a friendship, the pair soon realised their romantic feelings for each other and started dating in May 2015.
Despite the almost three-decade age difference, Gretchen couldn't deny how she felt for Michael and the pair married in February 2018 and have now welcomed a son together - Shannon, six months.
Gretchen, doesn't let people's judgment hold her back, despite people often thinking Michael is her dad and their son's grandad.

00:00He had started saying, if you kiss me, you're going to fall in love.
00:04That's Michael's game.
00:05He's very friendly and open and he's going to tell you what's on his mind.
00:15I'm Gretchen and this is Michael.
00:17We're the Dylans.
00:18Hello.
00:19We have a 27 year age gap in our relationship.
00:22I was recently out of a long, ugly marriage.
00:31I started putting an Airbnb together for my house and get a manager for it.
00:35I came back into town one night and there was a car in the parking lot with the hood
00:41open and a young lady under the hood.
00:43And I asked her if she needed any help.
00:45Her head popped up from under the hood with a big, huge smile and told me, no, she was
00:49just adding oil to it.
00:50It wasn't a big deal.
00:51We ran across each other again in the dairy aisle.
00:55I was flirting with her and we just really just clicked.
00:59And it occurred to me that Gretchen might be a good candidate for my Airbnb.
01:04He just seemed happy and like he wanted to have conversations and he was very open.
01:08And so I was having fun talking to him.
01:11I remember texting my best friend that night and saying, I gave an older man my number
01:17and I don't know why.
01:18If I was 28, so you were probably 55.
01:27Gretchen moved in.
01:28It took several months before we actually started dating.
01:34We went and saw the symphony at an art gallery.
01:36I call that our first official date.
01:38He had started saying, if you kiss me, you're going to fall in love.
01:42I was not interested in turning this into a big mess of getting involved with somebody
01:48who I'm living with and running a business with.
01:51Called Michael to tell him that I was coming home and I was in a bad mood.
01:55And Michael said, I'll put in an order and get some wings and why don't you pick those
02:00up and we'll watch a movie.
02:02And I was just like, this is exactly what I wanted.
02:06And that's whenever I started thinking about that maybe the thing that I wanted looked
02:11different than I thought it would look.
02:12And she eventually, yeah, we got it on.
02:16I was not totally sure about what I was doing.
02:21Whenever we were sleeping together, I think that was like more official.
02:25There's a lot of vulnerability in that for me emotionally.
02:30And it wasn't until she kind of came to terms with it that, oh my God, it was like a flip,
02:36a switch that flipped and the sex became phenomenal.
02:41I do remember having a conversation that we were going to be dating and then we made it
02:46Facebook official.
02:47It felt really right.
02:53Oh, she lost friends.
02:56People, they feel really strongly about status quo and how things look.
03:01I had a friend that sat me down.
03:04She told me that I should not get married because it means I will definitely be a widow.
03:09And you'll be a hot widow.
03:10Yep.
03:11And actually the woman that was tailoring my wedding dress.
03:14Your parents have been nothing but warm.
03:16My dad embraced you, but my mom wasn't.
03:19Neither was your sister.
03:20It's going to be a subject.
03:22People meet us and it's going to be on their mind, you know, and they're going to have
03:26thoughts.
03:27But not long after they get to know us, that becomes a, you know, that just goes away.
03:32Unless they're ****, in which case they go away.
03:41We got married on Valentine's.
03:43He was like, how many times am I going to have to propose to you?
03:45And I was like, until you do it right.
03:47We had like a couple of health scares.
03:49Michael had a heart attack, which is, I think, one of the dangers of dating a much younger
03:54woman.
03:56I've been thinking about wanting a big adventure and I wanted to do something with you and
04:01that kids are a big adventure and let's do it.
04:06So we did it.
04:07Now we've got this cute little baby boy.
04:11She wants another.
04:12I would still say I'm not necessarily into older guys.
04:15It's just that Michael sneaks through my safety net of who I'm interested in because of his
04:21personality.
04:22And we both have sort of the freedom and safety to express ourselves and however we're feeling.
04:33I guess from day one, you knew you wanted to take it further.
04:36Holy mackerel.
04:37Yeah, when I started the dairy aisle, I wanted to take it right there.
04:42Yeah.
