00:00I'm joined by Graham and Gemma from AWM Ltd, who've just picked up the award for Business
00:08of the Year Small. I'm going to start with you Gemma, if that's okay. How do you feel
00:12and how happy are you to have picked up this award?
00:15Oh, absolutely astonished. It's wonderful. I mean, I've been working for the business
00:19only eight months, so this is a wonderful achievement to have witnessed. And you've
00:25got such a history behind you, Graham, so it's fantastic to have that recognition.
00:29Fantastic. And Graham, just tell us about AWM. What is it that you do and who are you?
00:34Yeah, AWM, we've been established since 1979. It's a family company started by my father
00:39and my mother and father. I took over in 2013. We do weighing solutions and dimensioning
00:46solutions and a consultancy based around those various industries. And yeah, I'm just absolutely
00:52chuffed to have won this really. It's amazing. Thanks to everyone at AWM and the team really,
00:58because I mean, they make it what it is. And it's been a really great thing to acknowledge
01:03that really and a really good opportunity to get together and acknowledge that. So that's
01:06great.
01:07Hugely well established business, as you've mentioned, over many decades. How do you continue
01:10to be successful as you move forward?
01:12Yeah, I think the key is just trying to keep innovating, trying to keep changing with how
01:18the industry is. You can't stay still, that's what we always say. If you stay still, you
01:23don't go anywhere. So we keep trying to come up with new ideas, working as a team, working
01:27together to see where the trends are and trying to really get ahead of the game. I think that's
01:32what's really made us a great success. And yeah, just really pleased to receive an award
01:38to acknowledge that.
01:39As part of your nomination, you've tripled your staff and achieved record sales. Give
01:44us a few more of the key achievements this year that have led to this.
01:48Yeah, sure. We've actually sort of changed some of our business models. So we've been
01:52working with local companies like Treat over many, many years. And recently, we've really
01:57started to develop that local business as well. So some of the larger companies and
02:00various reworking closely with now as well, which is great to see, actually. It's nice
02:04to be part of that community and see everyone here and people we know. And yeah, we look
02:08to hopefully grow that part of our business as well locally and supporting local businesses
02:11as well.
02:12And Gemma, obviously, you're part of the team. How much does an award like this really resonate
02:16within the team and feel like a reward for your hard work?
02:19Absolutely. It's going to be a huge motivator for the whole team. And we're all behind Graham
02:24and we just want to support. And we all are very collaborative and we all work together
02:29so well. So this is just a huge boost for us.
02:31And I think it's really important to say thank you to the whole team, because it really is
02:34that everyone who makes it what it is. We're not individuals, we're a team. And that's
02:38what's really important. So yeah, well done to everyone.

02:43Yep.
02:44And who's going to be leading the celebrations within this?
02:46Yeah, Nicky and James are here tonight and they were here with me and Gem and there's
02:51everyone back at the back of the AWM as well. So I'm sure James will be leading us forward
02:56with a bit of partying later to celebrate. So that'd be great.
