'Wizards Beyond Waverly Place' Cast Share What Advice They Got from OGs Selena Gomez and David Henrie

00:00I mean, it was awesome. The word to me is meaningful. It's an absolutely meaningful

00:03experience because I think over the years, Selina and I encountered so many fans all

00:08over the world and their parents, by the way, who said that our show meant so much to them.

00:13It was there for them when they needed it. It was there for them in a dark place in their life

00:17in some cases and really gave them a much needed dose of humor and heart.

00:22So it really did make a difference in a lot of people's lives all over the world. So my

00:25my my excitement here is in being able to recapture that same spirit. And Selina and I

00:32both were like, we want to recapture that same spirit, the same themes, the same values,

00:37and represent them to a whole new generation, but at the same time, give a big warm hug

00:43to the original fan and hopefully invite them to say, I want to watch this with a younger person.

00:50I want to bring in either my kid now because millennials are having kids. I mean, I got three

00:54kids or a niece or a nephew or a little cousin or someone they're babysitting. They want I hope

00:59they'll they'll enjoy it so much and they'll feel so seen and appreciated that they'll want to share

01:05that experience with a young person like they did when they were a kid, maybe with their parents or

01:09an aunt or an uncle. She offered a lot. I think the biggest thing was the fact that not to let

01:16anyone block my sunlight and to just stay true to myself. And it doesn't really matter what other

01:22people are saying about me because at the end of the day, all that matters is what I'm saying to

01:27myself when I look inside the mirror and making sure that I'm saying positive things about myself

01:33rather than negative. So that was one thing that she was super big on me with. And then just like

01:40joining this beloved franchise, it feels like such an honor. And, you know, I just kind of want to

01:45like cherish it and take care of it and like, you know, the most that I possibly can. It just kind

01:52of makes me feel really happy to know that like I'm like could be one of the people that may make

01:58a little kid laugh when they have a really bad day or like maybe like for my little sister, for

02:03example, she could run around the house quoting something I say, like just thinking about little

02:09things like that makes me really happy. It was awesome. It was I mean, she's Selena Gomez. So I

02:13was like, I'm nervous. And then she was the most relatable, wonderful, kind, lovely. Like I felt

02:20like I was just like with a friend, you know, and that was really special because seeing their

02:25relationship is so sweet. But also, you know, I'm coming into this as a new person and I felt so

02:30welcomed and so so just truly brought into the family. And, you know, they really they really

02:36set a tone, like I was saying, of kindness and of joy on set. It's such a blast. It really is.

02:42I mean, she's done this before and we haven't. And and so she she I think she was a very

02:50valuable resource because she's gone through this. She knows what it's like. And she and David

02:57both are working to make this the best experience possible because they they did this before. They

03:07had their ups and downs. They had things that worked and things that didn't work.

03:10And they want all of those great things in our show and all of those not as great things. They

03:17want they want to keep us away from that. And I think that's really sweet that they did that

03:22together, that they work together to make it the best possible place for us to work.

03:30I mean, she's just so relatable and nice. I mean, it's it's crazy because like if she's like, if you

03:38have any problems, you can just call me. And it's just insane because when I mean, when you meet

03:44Selena Gomez, you expect it to be like and for good reason not to be super humble, but she's

03:49so humble and she kind of teaches me how I should be, you know, if I ever get to like being a famous

03:55actor and hopefully and I just think she's the best. She's she she is a great mentor because

04:02she shows what you're supposed to be if you become famous and to stay humble.
